Guest Post: The Last Free Place in America?

Fellow blogger Jules Smith submitted this essay, and we thank her. Being English is pretty cool and living in England (apart from petrol being $9 a gallon, learning to live with rain and not having any big guns to play with) is, on the whole, a decent place to spend your time: pubs, best ales, outstanding puddings, edgy fashion, sarcasm and name calling as a term of endearment, BBC dramas without adverts and Mary Berry. Despite the fact that I truly love my country I always think one should have a home away from home. Sometimes you can get bored, … Continue reading

A Nasty Divorce -Brexit

Guest Post by Jules: Last night I had to restrain myself from throwing one of my cowboy boots at my beautiful, 60” HD television when the BBC NEWS AT TEN came on. Now I’m not one who is quick to temper unless I’m stuck behind a tractor on a country road or faced with a unicorn, but when this ‘breaking news’ announcement flashed up on my screen I had to grip the sides of my leather sofa with force, and let me tell you, that is no mean feat.  Leather is very slippy. Theresa May, in her infinite wisdom, has … Continue reading

“Fair share?”

The following meme is being widely circulated by supporters of Bernie Sanders.  Yet, none has be able, or willing, to explain, much less discuss, the ramifications of that for which they clamor.  They answer only with some simplistic demands about “fair share.” I hear this often from proponents of “democratic socialism,” but am puzzled by the meaning.  Since it is often used in conjunction with a person’s economic status, I presume it is mainly about wealth, or lack thereof.  So my question: What is a fair share, and how is that determined? More pointedly: At what level does accumulating wealth … Continue reading

American “Gun Obsession” Explained

Even out here in the wild west (Arizona), it is not the ‘wild west’ decried by the anti-gun forces.  Nor is it the one envisioned by those in countries where the rights of citizens to self-protection have been usurped by Draconian gun control laws. Yet, the meme continues that Americans are just a bunch of gun-crazy yahoos, looking for the next OK Corral showdown. Are Americans obsessed with their guns? Well, yes to a point.  It is not the gun itself for which we hold such passion, but for what that gun preserves. A great explanation of that concept comes … Continue reading

Blaming the Trump Wall, Immigrants Swarm the Border

From The Daily Wire: Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump launched himself into the political sphere on the back of his immigration policy proposals, primarily building a wall that Mexico will pay for that is so big and beautiful it will make your head spin. It would seem that those across our southern border have been paying attention to Trump’s rise and rhetoric as well, and acting accordingly. Reuters reports that there has been a massive “spike in the numbers of migrants trying to enter the country, including children traveling without guardians.” U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data shows 150,304 migrants were … Continue reading

Today’s Battle for Critical Delegates

From Breitbart: Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton will try to separate themselves from their competitors on Super Tuesday as both frontrunners are in line to rack up the lion’s share of the delegates and build what may be insurmountable leads. Republicans will battle for 595 delegates while Democrats have 865 delegates at stake tonight. Trump, who has won three straight nominating contests, has a 33-point lead in the latest national CNN/ORC poll. And according to the RealClearPolitics average of the polls, he has commanding leads in nearly every Super Tuesday state. Trump is up 14.5 percentage points in Virginia, 15.2 in … Continue reading

A Surprise Move from Loretta Lynch

From Washington Times: Attorney General Loretta Lynch told Congress on Wednesday she is preparing to crack down on sanctuary cities and would try to stop federal grant money from going to jurisdictions that actively thwart agents seeking to deport illegal immigrants. Her announcement marks a major policy reversal for the administration, which for years has opposed legislation that would have forced such a crackdown. The federal Bureau of Prisons will now try to deport illegal immigrants rather than turn them over to sanctuary cities, Attorney General Loretta Lynch said Wednesday in a bid to solve the situation that may have led to the … Continue reading

Celebrities to Wear Gun Control Bracelets at Oscars While Surrounded by Massive Increase in Armed Security

From:,  by AWR Hawkins,  on Feb 28, 2016,  see the article HERE. Celebrities like Patricia Arquette, Steve Carell, Bryan Cranston, and others, plan to make wear gun control bracelets at the 2016 Oscars while benefiting from massive increases in armed security at the event. The bracelets are part of a gun control push sponsored by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. According to People magazine, the bracelets are “decorated in a simple black and gold design” and part of the Brady Campaign’s efforts to recruit celebs and other Hollywood “influencers” to join their push for gun control. The … Continue reading

The ‘Pause’ In Global Warming Is Real; Now Even Michael Mann Throws Allies To Wolves

From:,  by James Delingpole,  on Feb 28, 2016,  see the article HERE. With apologies to Clyde (come back Clyde!), this article is verifying what so many of us have been saying for years – Global Warming is a crock! The “Pause” in global warming is real – not an urban myth concocted by evil ‘deniers’ – a study has found, signalling the development of a major schism within the climate alarmist camp. “It has been claimed that the early-2000s global warming slowdown or hiatus, characterized by a reduced rate of global surface warming, has been overstated, lacks sound scientific … Continue reading

Rubio and Cruz release tax returns, Pressuring Trump to follow

From:,  by Eugene Scott, Chris Frates and Theodore Schleifer,  on Feb 27, 2016,  see the article HERE. Washington (CNN)Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz released income and federal tax data Saturday as part of an attempt to pressure Donald Trump, the Republican presidential front-runner, to do the same. Rubio released five years’ worth of financial information, saying the rates his family paid were in line with tax rates paid by Americans of similar income levels. And Cruz and his wife disclosed four years’ worth, bringing in more income than did the Rubio family. But both campaigns … Continue reading

You’re Seeing Donald Trump at His Most Conservative

From: Ace of Spades HQ,  by Ace,  on Feb 26, 2016,  see the article HERE. [snip] continued from a much longer article, click link (above) to read it all. My problem with Trump is that he is a dealmaker trying to make a sale. Right now he’s trying to make a deal with conservatives — so this is the very most conservative we’ll ever see him. If he gets the nomination, he now starts working on making the second part of the deal with the other party in the negotiations, the general public. So this is the most conservative we’ll … Continue reading

FACT CHECK: Rubio Lies Four More Times About Breitbart News, ICE Officer on FOX News

From:,  by Julia Hahn,  on Feb 26, 2016,  see the article HERE. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) has doubled down on his smear against immigration law enforcement officers and his attack on Breitbart News. In a Friday interview on Special Report, Rubio made four demonstrably false declarations to host Bret Baier in under 90 seconds. 1) Rubio implicitly demeaned Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Council President Chris Crane by declaring that Crane’s desired changes to the Gang of Eight bill pertained to “labor union stuff” rather than the substantive concerns Crane had about how the bill would negatively impact the safety of the American people. Crane … Continue reading

Beating Trump In Debate

From:,  by Peter Spillakos,  on Feb 16, 2016,  see the article HERE. NOTE: This article was apparently written before the February 13th debate in South Carolina and published on February 16. Mr. Spillakos’ strategy wasn’t followed until last night’s debate (Feb. 25th in Houston). But Rubio and Cruz must’ve read his article in between because they did attack last evening as if it were a wrestling match. Garnet92. Easy for me to say. I have a little bit of advice for Cruz and Rubio tomorrow when it comes to defeating Trump. Some of the advice is tactical, but the … Continue reading

Marco Rubio Finally Steps Up As The Anti-Trump

From:,  by Nate Silver,  on Feb 26, 2016,  see the article HERE. After Donald Trump’s win in South Carolina on Saturday, there seemed to be a general consensus about where the Republican race stood, one we pretty much agreed with. Trump, according to betting markets, had about a 50 percent chance of becoming the nominee. Marco Rubio, who had closed strongly to finish in second place in South Carolina, had about a 40 percent chance as the leading traditional candidate. And the rest of the GOP field had only about a 10 percent chance combined. But somehow over the … Continue reading

Senators Up for Re-Election in 2016

After the Republicans took the majority in the Senate, Americans had high hopes for big changes. Those hopes have been consistently dashed since the majority of those senators repeatedly cave to the wants of our president and the democratic senators. Besides the upcoming presidential election this year, there are 24 Republican senators who are up for re-election. In each state it is important to replace those ‘cavers’ with stand-up conservatives who have America’s best interests at heart. Let’s identify the ‘cavers’ and the ‘keepers.’   Kelly Ayotte (New Hampshire) 66 Roy Blunt (Missouri) 37 John Boozman (Arkansas) 63 Richard Burr … Continue reading

Donald Trump Is Currently Fighting Off Two Multimillion Dollar Lawsuits Over the Super Fake “Trump University”

From:,  by Brendan O’Conner,  on Feb 24, 2016,  see the article HERE. Late last year, on December 10, Donald Trump briefly slipped away from the public eye to give a closed-door, pretrial deposition in a class-action lawsuit filed against him in California, Yahoo News reports, relating to the now-defunct Trump University. The lawsuit revolves around the school Trump launched in 2005, promising to turn “anyone into a successful real estate investor,” but which former students now say was little more than a bad “infomercial” that scammed them out of $60,000 for a bad seminar in a hotel ballroom. The … Continue reading

Donald Trump: Champion of Foreign Workers in America

From:,  by Rick Moran,  on Feb 25, 2016,  see the article HERE. To the legions of Trumpbots, nothing he says or does will change their mind about him, so running an article that shows once again what a bald-faced hypocrite he is won’t matter a whit. Still, it’s amusing when Trump is caught with his pants down — especially on the issue of immigration. According to the New York Times, Trump chose to staff his private club in Florida with foreign workers he arranged to come to the U.S. using the “H” visa program despite 300 Americans applying for … Continue reading

Seattle Law Allows Nude Man in Girls’ Locker Room

From Eagle Rising: Earlier in February, conservative concerns about new laws supposedly written to “protect” homosexuals and transgenders are proving to be accurate. While liberals argued that the law was simply designed to protect LGBT citizens from discrimination, conservatives replied that the laws would instead discriminate against non-LGBT citizens. Now that conflict is playing out just as conservatives had warned. At the Evans pool in Seattle, Washington, a man walked into the changing room of a local swimming pool and stripped naked in front of a girls’ swim team. When confronted about the disgusting display, the man simply replied that … Continue reading

Georgia Business Owner Requires Employees to be Armed

From:,  by Fuzzy Slippers,  on Feb 24, 2016,  see the article HERE. While Obama and the progressive left continue their gun-grabbing attempts to leave law-abiding citizens at the mercy of random shooters and terrorists, one business owner in Georgia has instituted a new policy that requires all of his employees to obtain a concealed carry permit so they can be armed in the workplace. WSB-TV reports: A local business owner with several offices in Georgia is now requiring all of his employees to get a concealed carry license and be armed. After each employee at Lance Toland Associates gets … Continue reading
