First Round Downrange

on the classified memo.

EXCERPT:  “The House Intelligence Committee has released its controversial memo outlining alleged abuses of secret surveillance by the FBI and Justice Department in the Trump-Russia investigation. Here are some key points:

* The Steele dossier formed an essential part of the intial and all three renewal FISA applications against Carter Page.

* Andrew McCabe confirmed that no FISA warrant would have been sought from the FISA Court without the Steele dossier information.

* The political origins of the Steele dossier were known to senior DOJ and FBI officials, but excluded from the FISA applications.

* DOJ official Bruce Ohr met with Steele beginning in the summer of 2016 and relayed to DOJ information about Steele’s bias. Steele told Ohr that he, Steele, was desperate that Donald Trump not get elected president and was passionate about him not becoming president.

The FBI and Justice Department mounted a months-long effort to keep the information outlined in the memo out of the House Intelligence Committee’s hands. Only the threat of contempt charges and other forms of pressure forced the FBI and Justice to give up the material.

Once Intelligence Committee leaders and staff compiled some of that information into the memo, the FBI and Justice Department, supported by Capitol Hill Democrats, mounted a ferocious campaign of opposition, saying release of the memo would endanger national security and the rule of law.

But Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes never wavered in his determination to make the information available to the public. President Trump agreed, and, as required by House rules, gave his approval for release.”

The full memo released, git yer popcorn!

Popcorn my ass. Get the ropes.

  2. SafeSpace says:

Learning that FBI & DOJ & media employees together lied to the FISA court THREE TIMES to get the court to open and renew this bullshit investigation. There had damn well be some indictments, and soon.

  3. Uriel says:

This is certainly damning but NOT worth the panic/hysteria of the Democrats nor the challenge of authority by the FBI. It is all things we were aware of from the public records of Fusion GPS so I see no reason that the FBI had to believe that there was anything new or highly confidential was included. In fact as noted — however, reluctantly, the FBI gave all the information in the memo to congress so there was no way they could not know it would be included or have unknown information added.

Not trying to steal your thunder but I couldn’t get the scribd document to post in this comment so another post was in order.

As Yosemite Sam would say, “Say yer prayers varmint(s)!” “Aha! Now I gotcha … ya fur-bearin’ crittter (swamp rat)!” “Ya double-crossers! I’m a-comin’ back, and I ain’t comin’ back to play marbles!”

  6. Rammsteinrules says:

Note it was a Title I (not Title VII) warrant. Essentially alleging Carter Page was a foreign actor (more or less a spy, someone acting in the interest of a foreign government). IT WAS NOT INCIDENTAL TO ANOTHER INVESTIGATION.

Pretty good summary here This was prior to memo release but pretty spot on
