26 Dead, 20 Wounded in Texas Church Mass Shooting

Here we go again…

Washington Examiner:

Twenty-six people are dead and 20 others are injured after a man wearing all black and a bulletproof vest used a semi-automatic rifle to shoot up a southeastern Texas church Sunday.

Law enforcement officials said the suspect — who is reported to be named Devin Patrick Kelley, a 26-year-old Texas man — was seen about 11:30 a.m. at a gas station near First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. He left the gas station and drove toward the church.

Texas Department of Public Safety Regional Director Freeman Martin said Kelley got out of his car and opened fire at the outside of the church.

“That suspect then moved to the right side of the church and then continued to fire. That suspect entered the church and continued to fire,” Martin said.

Martin said a local resident heard the gunshots and got his own rifle and began firing at Kelley while he shot at worshippers.

The shots caused Kelley to drop his Ruger AR semi-automatic rifle and flee from the church, and the resident pursued him.

Kelley got back into his vehicle and drove away, but eventually crashed his vehicle near the county line. Martin said police responding to the crash found him dead in the vehicle. It’s not clear if the fatal wound came from the shootout with the local resident or if it was self-inflicted, he said.

While multiple reports indicate Kelley is the shooter, Martin refused to identify him immediately Sunday.

“He was dressed in all black, tactical type gear and was wearing a ballistic vest,” Martin said. “The delay in getting him identified is there were multiple weapons in the vehicle and the vehicle has been processed by our Texas Ranger special operations group bomb techs.”

Martin said 23 people were found dead inside the church, two were found dead outside the church and one victim who was taken to the hospital has died.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said the incident is the largest mass shooting in Texas history.

“As a state, we are dealing with the largest mass shooting in our state’s history. There’s so many families who have lost family members. Fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters,” he said. “The tragedy, of course, is worsened by the fact that it occurred in a church, a place of worship, where these people were innocently gunned down. We mourn their loss, but we support their family members.”

Martin added about 20 people are in hospitals in San Antonio being treated for injuries that range from minor to “very severe.”

The murderer was supposedly a rabid Antifa asshole (although not confirmed) and was court-martialed for beating up his wife and dishonorably discharged from the Airforce in 2014.  He was also an avowed atheist.

Fortunately, a good gun with a gun was around and stopped the POS from killing more innocents.

The calls for more gun control already started from the typical bleaters.  It is clear that Democrat voters should be prohibited from owning or possessing firearms.

My heart aches for the people killed and wounded, and those that lost loved ones.  This is horrible.  This event won’t be the last either as lefty dreams continue to go up in smoke.  Lefties are going off the rails everywhere.  If you’re not carrying yet, you had better start.

Its hideous, disgusting and pure evil. I call for more of the good guys with guns to start carrying them wherever they go. Take them out of the glove compartment, out of the safes, out of the drawer and have a weapon on you at ALL TIMES and be ready to take these reprobates down and out because something tells me it is going to get worse.

At keast one church in my N E GA mountain town has parishioners who carry concealed during church services. Only the elders and deacons know who it might be on a given Sunday. This same church also locks all the entry doors as worship starts; an usher is posted to admit tardy worshippers. ALL churches NEED to adopt a similar policy.

Time to ban leftist nutcases from owning weapons.

  3. Wise Owl says:

Of course, the first thing Ovomit does is to blame the gun. Well, if that’s legit, I blame the business suit for asshole politicians! It makes as much sense.

  4. Uriel says:

If it works out that the man is indeed ANTIFA or a related group, then the feds BETTER start rounding them up for their own safety and include known leftist patrons who are funding them. Because there are a lot of people who want the leftist elite funded groups ALL labeled domestic terrorists dealt with on treason charges as well as murder…….the death penalty should apply

  5. whitetop says:

Some blonde bimbo named Chelsea Handler (whomever she is) quickly blamed the Republicans for the shooting. She apparently met w/some pushback on her social media. Idiots need to be met w/aggressive talk just to get the point we believe they are full of crap. They paint w/a broad brush when they start their hate talk w/nothing to support their argument.

  6. captbogus2 says:

The Texas AG came out and said there should be more armed citizens like the two that stopped this asshole.

  7. whitetop says:

He was wearing body armor yet was found dead in his vehicle. Did he die by hitting something with his vehicle; take a bullet to the head, or his body armor did not protect him? Missing information.

    • Wise Owl says:

WhiteTop, it was reported the citizen who shot him was aiming for the gaps between the body armor, and succeeded in seriously wounding him. I have not heard if he died from those wounds or ultimately shot himself.

      • Hardnox says:

From what I read, you’re correct on him getting shot in the gaps, then the scumbag called his father stating he was wounded, then he shot himself. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

  8. Wendy says:

Honestly, who really cares? He lost it in the end.

  9. Shar says:

At least Trump didn’t fall for the take your gun baloney. Instead he called it a mental health issue. Heard shooter abused his wife and child and that his mother-in-law attended that Church. More will come out.

  10. vonMesser says:

USAF dropout (DD or BCD, unsure which) multiple felony convictions. NOT reported to NCIC database by Air Force. Phoned his father and told him he was wounded (so appears good guy with gun got a round into him). Atheist who hated Christians. Registered Democrat. Family violence (multiple times) . Ex mother-in-law attended this church.

Gee, what motive could there have been?

  11. I.R. Wayright says:

We need a new gun law in this country. Every time there is a shooting like this, there should be a 10 day waiting period….before a politician can shoot off his (or her) mouth calling for more “common sense gun control laws.”
