Calif. Congressman Proposes Article Of Impeachment Against Trump

A Democratic congressman has proposed one article of impeachment that he hopes will begin the process of removing President Donald Trump from office.

“Donald John Trump has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as president and subversive of constitutional government,” read the resolution proposed by Rep. Brad Sherman, D-Calif.

Sherman said he understood that Trump’s removal would not give the Democrats the White House.

“The purpose of this article is not to deprive the Republicans of their election victory,” said Sherman, noting that if Trump were removed, Vice President Mike Pence would take office. “In fact, from a purely partisan standpoint, it would install someone who would competently pursue a truly regressive progressive.”

However, he said, the nation is being poorly led.

“Every day that goes by is a day of Alice in Wonderland administration,” he said.

The proposal drew a swift rebuke from Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, R-Wisc.

“Frustrated opponents of the president are grasping at straws and factitious rumors to advance their own political agenda rather than the interests of the country,” Sensenbrenner said.

“There is no proof of wrongdoing on the part of the president, which means discussions of impeachment are not only premature, but imprudent and counterproductive,” he said.

Only a few Democrats are actively calling for Trump’s impeachment. Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, last week said he was also drafting articles of impeachment against Trump. Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., has said for months Trump should be impeached, but has not said she is drafting any articles against him.

Sherman based his articles of impeachment on the claim that Trump tried to stop the FBI’s investigation of former national security adviser Michael Flynn and that he fired FBI Director James Comey for not halting the FBI’s investigation of alleged Russian involvement in the 2016 elections.

Although efforts to impeach Trump can move forward only if a majority of House members support impeachment, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said that that blocks impeachment only as long as the House remains in Republican hands.

“Republicans in general — not just Trump — are in a crossroads,” Gingrich said recently. “And if they don’t get their act together, (Minority Leader Nancy) Pelosi is going to become speaker and she’s going to impeach Trump. That’s how big the stakes are.”

“You think the hard left would do anything less?” he added. As speaker, Gingrich led the effort to impeach former President Bill Clinton.

Anyone else familiar with Congressman Sherman? I wasn’t.

First he is from Russian Jewish descent. He is a lawyer who did undergraduate at the University of California and received his J.D. at Harvard. The Jewish descent isn’t a problem but Russian might be given the current Democrat hysteria against Trump on this issue. That he graduated from a hotbed of socialism such as UofC at Los Angeles is. That again and again and again Ivy League colleges like Yale and Harvard have graduates involved with global schemes like the UN, Islamic studies, and communism is also a concern.

The biggest concern however unfolds as we begin looking at his public life.

First he held a position on the California State Tax Board of Equalization from 1991-1996 (the only publicly elected tax commission in the US). That commission has been involved in controversies like the examination of 70 “complex, high stakes” cases between 2001-2009 which revealed a striking pattern of pay-to-play: the more money contributed to a board member, the higher likelihood of success. Granted he held a position prior to 2001 but such “complex” cases take a lot of years to be concluded in court and there was controversy even during the early 1990’s. For instance Paul Carpenter served on the Board of Equalization for less than a full term before leaving office in 1990, convicted of federal charges.

Then there is the interesting coincidence of how he got elected to congress. First the 2010 redistricting in California threw matters into a tizzy such that  much more of the Democrat weight fell to Sherman’s district (60%) than to Howard Berman (40%), his party competitor. Those were the breaks.

But it gets even more interesting when one sees that Berman as the established candidate had the support of  some 20 Democrat congress members, 10 Republican congress members, Governor Jerry Brown and an assortment of public figures in California. In other words, he should have been a shoe-in for the position. Sherman was endorsed by Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, Bill Clinton, and Michael Dukakis. Sherman won the election by 60 percent to 40 percent of the votes.  So basically everyone in a newly redistricted area voted in total for one man or the other…what are the odds.

Then there is his congressional history. First elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1996, Sherman is serving his tenth term in Congress and has been on most of the committees for foreign affairs and finance since he entered 1996. He is a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and serves as the top Democrat on the subcommittee on Asia. He is the Chairman Emeritus of the Subcommittee on International Terrorism, Nonproliferation and Trade. He is also a senior member of the Financial Services Committee.  According to OpenSecrets his highest campaign contributions overall for 1995-2018  have been from individuals (nearly $9 million) and PACs (nearly $6 million).

As to controversies, Sherman mocked and brushed off the Black Panther case in 2010 which involved voter intimidation but for the most part Sherman has laid low and made sure not to make the headlines.

So what is going on? Anyone catching the drift here? Typical ploy — send in the class clown to take eyes off the real maneuvering then ease in one of their least controversial elder statesmen to drive home the issue. Deflect and destroy (they hope). But after years and a boatload of anger as well as visual and hysteric proof, most of the pissed off citizens are aware of their tactics.

Not going to work. Stand Down Sherman…Deplorables aren’t ready to let another Sherman, especially one from Alice’s Looking Glass Garden, stomp over us.

Besides, Comey messed up while implicating everyone but himself, or so he thought. What he actually did was shoot himself in the arse and now even the Bernie Sanders followers are pissed off. Go Comey! Great job.

  1. I have to remember that anyone can say anything about anybody, and Kalifornia dipshits are included. What’ I would REALLY like to see is a surge of testosterone among the Republicans and an aggressive impeachment retaliation against these unconstitutional dipshits. Impeach them for obstructing our Constitution!

  2. Shar says:

Maybe we should send them some “T” supplements. They do need to go on the offense and support our President.

    • Uriel says:

Absolutely Shar. They need to stop drinking the D.C. Koolade and start taking vitamins

  3. Peppermint says:

With the constant calling for impeachment by dem/commies and other pundits in the media, this is looking sillier by the day.
