Obama operatives unveil latest plan to boost liberal candidates

Close allies of former President Barack Obama quietly launched a new technology startup on Monday to further their ambitions of helping liberal candidates win political races across the country after waves of losses during the Obama years.

The latest move is calledHigher Ground Labs and is being launched by a handful of Obama acolytes including the ex-president’s 2012 online organizing director Betsy Hoover and Organizing for Action Executive Director Jon Carson, as well as former executives from Tumblr and Google.

Higher Ground hopes to double down on Democratic reliance on technology to organize activists and track voting trends, by focusing on lower-profile races, from governors to town mayors. The group reportedly already has taken in $1 million in new donations.

“As a lifelong campaigner, it is clear that we could be scaling faster and innovating in smarter ways,” said Hoover, a Higher Ground Labs co-founder. “As Democrats, our organizing needs to evolve.”

Higher Ground Labs is yet another component in an emerging strategy by ex-President Obama to continue his advocacy, with funding from wealthy scions of Wall Street and Silicon Valley. When laying out his vision for his post-presidential activism, Obama said last October that he wanted to create a “platform where young activists can get trained and learn from each other.” He also gave an overview last week for his presidential center in Chicago, which he envisions in part as a “campus” for training future political leaders.

Much of the reported work so far has involved raising large sums of money with long-time Obama bundlers like Marty Nesbitt, founder of Chicago-based “Parking Spot” who is now raising millions of dollars of donations for the new Obama presidential library in Chicago.

The Obama Foundation will focus on developing the next generation of citizens — and what it means to be a good citizen in the 21st century. More than a library, or a museum, the Obama Presidential Center will be a place that brings people together and inspires individuals and communities to take on big challenges.”

Meanwhile, Obama’s nonprofit community organizing project, Organizing for Action, is “bringing in thousands of new people who have never been engaged before, connecting them to a nationwide grassroots network, providing them with cost-free training, and empowering them to apply those skills to make change in their communities,” according to OFA communications director Jesse Lehrich.

“OFA is committed to mobilizing and training the next generation of progressive organizers and leaders, because real, lasting change doesn’t just happen on its own—it requires a program, it requires organizing.”

According to the Barack H. Obama Foundation’s filings, Lerner approved the foundation’s tax status within a month of filing. Lerner granted the organization a  501(c) determination and even gave it a retroactive tax exemption dating back to December 2008.

How is it Organizing for Action, formerly Obama’s Organizing for America, fly so quickly through the process when other have waited for years? Organizing for Action — the successor organization to Obama’s re-election campaign — is not compelled by law to release any of its donor information because it was established as a 501(c)(4) ”social welfare” nonprofit group and falls under the auspices of the Internal Revenue Service. It may raise and spend unlimited amounts of money, but electing politicians cannot be its primary purpose.

{After the 2008 election, the Obama for America campaign transformed itself into a policy-focused grassroots entity, Organizing for America, housed at the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Organizing for America kept alive the structure of a reelection campaign. During 2011 and 2012 Organizing for America worked lockstep with the Obama re-election campaign. Once the election was over (somewhere in later at the end of 2013 or early 2014),  OFA became a stand-alone organization with 501(c)(4) legal status. Immediately there came concerns that with unlimited donation capability and refusal to name large donors that there was a pay-to-play function between it and the White House.}

Obama did say what his plans were before he left office. I am sure some were thinking he would simply fade or move away to some deserted mid Atlantic island. Obviously over the last few weeks, we have learned just how he had No plans to fade away nor let go his hold on the throat of DC.

I will be so thankful when the last of the gutter snipes in the White House and executive branch are sent packing. Still, Obama is going to be a dangerous enemy of the US constitutional republic until we somehow have people in places such as the FBI, DoJ, and other administrative agencies that can ferret out all his little stink bombers and then send him to where he belongs. – hint; it’s a place where people beg for ice water.

I hope the shtstain keeps his cock holster flapping. He’ll constantly remind people why democrats are dog crap.

There is a bit of wisdom in that Gunny as long as he keeps conservatives pissed then they hopefully won’t forget

  3. I am hoping he begins to spend time in Chicago! 🙂

    • Uriel says:

Now that would be interesting if he walked. Among them. Wonder what would happen. He could run for mayor I guess.

  4. Auntie BS says:

If the new Justice Department can find criminal activity in the Obama presidency, they can make him cease and desist, even if they lack enough to put him in prison. Prosecuting him now would appear, to the world, as sour grapes, but threatening him with prosecution if he doesn’t quietly go away is a different matter.

    • Uriel says:

He only has a healthy respect for his handlers now IF he pissed Them off no need to bring to trial. He probably would have a suicide attack.

As usual, I agree with you and your readers on this topic. But when someone disagrees with a topic, you choose to ignore them and let a couple of other followers speaks on the topic. That being Hardnox and Safespace whom I’m assuming are part of the Pro-Life group. I repeat that I voted for the President and think what he is trying to accomplish is great. I just disagree with the defunding of Plan Parenthood.
I was hoping for different viewpoints, but you chose no-comment and Hardnox and Safespace were the only ones to reply. Hardnox did acknowledge that it was a hard
subject that needed more conversation, but ended with “he rather see his tax dollars
go to little Bill” as if he had control of his tax dollars. Safespace was really upset that I would question Pro-life and went on a morality rant. The point I was trying to make and I’m still open for factual dialog is the females reproductive right. This whole ideology about the embryo, fetus, or child being viable at conception is all wrong. I had only one semester of biology and 74 yrs of life experiences. The rhetoric around abortion has been more abortion means “you can rip the baby out of the womb of the mother”. God made the female in the image of man for the purpose of reproduction and all that entails. He made the gestation period nine-ten months, in the females body for the babies protection. Now those of political power and Pro-life advocates want to determine that an unborn has rights and its mother has none.
There’s something wrong with that. I also point out that men in my mind have no say on what is a women’s right. I also point out that women of child-baring age and the girls that will be of child-baring age, far and away, out-number the women that are beyond child-baring for what ever reason. That’s my problem, you decide what is the topic and what is relevant to the discussion. I had to interject my topic where I felt it was relevant.
