One of the Best Delivered Anti-Illegal Immigrant Speeches Ever… From Bill Clinton
January 31, 20017
At this very moment, there is almost certainly some airport in these 50 states experiencing a gaggle of leftist protesters gumming up the arrivals hall.
These protesters all have three things in common. First, they’re protesting President Donald Trump’s executive orders on immigration, both from seven countries in the Middle East and in terms of illegal immigration across the Mexican border. Second, they’re not entirely sure why they’re protesting them, simply that they should be. And third, they’re all set to mess stuff up — except at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, which they could only make look look better.
However, if you want to make an airport protester faint, you should probably show them this video. It’s a 22-year-old clip from former President Bill Clinton’s 1995 State of the Union speech, and it delivers a surprisingly effective argument for border enforcement and cracking down on illegal immigrants.
“All Americans, not only in the states most heavily affected but in every place in this country, are rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country,” Clinton said.
“The jobs they hold might otherwise be held by citizens or legal immigrants. The public services they use impose burdens on our taxpayers. That’s why our administration has moved aggressively to secure our borders more by hiring a record number of new border guards, by deporting twice as many criminal aliens as ever before, by cracking down on illegal hiring, by barring welfare benefits to illegal aliens.
“In the budget I will present to you, we will try to do more to speed the deportation of illegal aliens who are arrested for crimes, to better identify illegal aliens in the workplace as recommended by the commission headed by former Congresswoman Barbara Jordan.
“We are a nation of immigrants,” Clinton continued. “But we are also a nation of laws. It is wrong and ultimately self-defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws we have seen in recent years, and we must do more to stop it.”
Now, aside from the unbelievable sight of seeing a Clinton advocating a stronger version of what Donald Trump himself is proposing, there’s another name I’d like to draw your attention to from that snippet: former Congresswoman Barbara Jordan, who made the recommendations this speech was based on.
Jordan, who died in 1996, was one of the most reliably liberal members of the Democrat caucus during her time in the House of Representatives. Yet, even a liberal Democrat realized the importance of securing our borders and making sure that illegal immigrants did not take American jobs.
Somewhere along the line, things changed. The Democrat Party realized that the issue could be exploited for cynical gains at the ballot box, and their tone changed significantly. Now, for the Democrat Party, almost anything takes precedence over the interests of American workers — and America knows it, which is why Donald Trump is now president.
It would be interesting to project this clip on repeat inside every airport terminal that’s facing protests from the left. Interesting, because maybe the protesters would put two and two together and realize that the Democrat Party’s shift in tone over the intervening years doesn’t have anything to do with humanity or compassion, but is totally based in expediency.
Alas, I believe I’m only dreaming. That’s about as likely as LaGuardia turning into a world-class airport.
I was actually searching for something like this earlier. Great minds, lol.
Couldn’t have presented this better.
Add this to the evidence – a memo from November 2004 during the Bush administration.
