While I have lots of admiration for the Rus peoples, I do not think the US and Russia will ever be good friends. We both have way too much self-interest to be close. Best we can hope for is to be “not enemies”.

Exactly right. The Russians are never to be trusted but there is no reason not to seek common ground on common interests. The eradication of ISIS is one of those.

i like it. Why shouldn’t we try to work with Russia. We work with our other enemies. I love the part about blowing those Iranians out of the water. Seems the Pensacola crowd was happy with what he said.

Getting along with Russia is a better alternative than what Hillary wants!!

    • Hardnox says:

The left has decided that Russia is an enemy with which to pummel Trump in an effort to prime the lemmings about how evil they are and make a case for the voter hacking that Russia will not be doing.

It’s all about optics and a good bullshit story.

While our government interests are a fairly wide bit a part (unless you consider how the commies have been subtly changing our country) there is always room for negotiation and shared interests like destroying terrorists and drugs. On those issues, it is most definitely to our advantage to come together. People in Russia are no different than here. Love of mother country and pride in abilities especially to overcome extreme hardships have shaped them. In fact, if you listen even partially to many comments Putin has made (filtering out certain elements like their wanting to reincorporate lands) you might have heard the desire not to be beholden to this tainted government of the US and the need to be listened to as an equal not talked down to or upbraided. That is absolutely no different than our own desires to be happy and successful. Can we live with what is happening there as plans for future changes, probably not. But as the old saying goes, listening and considering all avenues is far and away better than antagonism and discourse.
