Quote Of The Day — August 08. 2015

.
One ought never to turn one’s back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half.

Sir Winston Churchill,   (30 November 1874 – 24 January 1965)

  1. Buck says:

The right man at the right time.
The world was fortunate to have had him in a time of extreme crisis. Now all we have for leaders can do nothing more than waste the national treasury, betray allies and commit blatant acts of treason.

    • Grouchy says:

A hearty AMEN~! to that, Buck. And not ONE of the current leaders can hold a candle to his perception, intellect and his wisdom. He understood what he perceived.

  2. Uriel says:

Flight or fight. In many of the animal kingdoms fight only occurs when flight is no longer an option. Humans are no different. There are only a rare few in any species that chooses fight first. They are usually labeled rogues.

    • Grouchy says:

Very true, Uriel. That said, there are times when the circumstances are so overwhelming as to leave little choice of action / non-action.
However, there have been anecdotal references of humans “bluffing out” bears and mountain lions, causing THEM to forsake attack.
And even rattlesnakes are alleged to give warning before striking.

  3. Great quote from Churchill, one of my favorite people. It’s too bad we don’t’ have any wise men around any longer.

    • Grouchy says:

      Greetings, Pepper~!
We do have wise men around, but the left and the media keep them muted and shackled.
Look what the leftist media is doing to the Republican candidates~!,,, and I’ll admit, that Trump could use a helluva lot more tact, if he wants his messages accepted~!

  4. Hardnox says:

There are warriors and there are sheep. Warriors never retreat.

  5. Garnet92 says:

Great quote G-man! It sometimes seems that damn near everything that Sir Winston said is quotable.

Unfortunately, today he wouldn’t have even been considered for a place at the “kiddie” table debates. The American public has lost the ability to recognize wisdom and leadership and now prefers fundraising and physical appearance as qualifications for POTUS.

    • Grouchy says:

Good point, Garnet. Yes, he was quotable, with a wisdom I’ve not seen since Kennedy and Reagan.
BOTH had their faults, but both were LEADERS, who understood the worst course of action was inaction.
Now, it is style and rhetoric over substance and planned action. EXCEPT for the bimbo wannabe Caliph transforming America to a God-Knows-What.
