Motorcycle Rider Baiting Cops: Kicking Patrol Cars & Driving 170 MPH

From:,  by Lana Shadwick,  on June 15, 2015,  see the article HERE.

HOUSTON, Texas — A rider on a bright yellow motorcycle is trying to bait police officers in Harris County, Texas by kicking the side of patrol cars and driving off, reaching speeds of up to 170 m.p.h. Harris County Constables are hoping that the cyclist is recognized and someone turns him in to authorities. County officials report that the man has done this on several occasions.

The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office has released a police dashcam video of the cyclist trying to bait an officer and engaging in extremely reckless behavior.  The video can be seen in a Click2Houston News report of the incident here.

The video shows the motorcycle rider pulling up to a red light on the left-hand side of the screen. The cyclist kicked the patrol car door and sped off through a red light. The deputy begins to chase the man but calls off the chase because of the high speeds reached.

Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman told Click2 Houston News, “We are not going to engage him in a pursuit, although it is very clear that he is trying to bait us into one.  He is popping wheelies and stuff in front of the patrol cars.”

Herman said the motorcyclist even turned around and came back at the officer, at which time he was clocked going 170 m.p.h.

The Harris County Constable said, “Traveling that fast, it’s just a matter of time before some innocent family is going to be traveling down the road and pull out in front of this guy. The speeds are just totally too dangerous to be on our public roadways.”

If the motorcyclist is caught, he will face felony evading charges.

Officials are asking for help in identifying this individual.

No one has yet identified the rider or the make of his motorcycle, but since I’m not a two-wheeler guy, I wasn’t aware of just how fast a street-legal sport bike might be – admittedly, I was a little skeptical about the 170 mph clocking, so I poked around a bit. WOW. I had no idea. And 0-60 in 3 seconds OR LESS.

This Kawasaki Ninja is just one of a host of motorcycles that are LIMITED TO 186 MPH. I didn’t want to show pictures of a bunch of them, so I just chose this Kawasaki as an example of these screamers.

Kawasaki Ninja

Bike makers agreed to limit speeds at 186 mph in order to escape the wrath of safety regulators from Japan to both sides of the Atlantic.

All of the familiar brands are members of that 186 mph (or better) group – Honda, BMW, MV Agusta, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and other less recognizable names. I’ve heard these sport bikes called “crotch rockets” before – now I know why. And that 186 mph isn’t a fluke – they changed the gearing and tires (no changes to engine) and ran 208 mph with that Kawasaki.

Wow. I had no idea these were so fast. Surprised the cops haven’t used some means to disable the cycle though.

  2. Grouchy says:

All it would take is one oil slick, and the sucker is a gone goose. He’d be spinning like a top til the cows come home~!

Ability to do doesn’t equate to that common sense NOT to do~!

  3. I.R. Wayright says:

    Perhaps a trip to the Isle of Man, where he could show his stuff to the best of them;
CATEGORY. RIDER(S). BIKE. YEAR. TIME. AVERAGE SPEED. Outright. Bruce Anstey. Honda CBR1000RR. 2014. 17:06.682. 132.298mph. TT Superbike.
That is a lap record. 51 mile road course with a top speed around 207mph.
There is little margin for error and you are whipping by stone walls some of the time.
There is no greater adrenalin rush than at this particular race. Even FIM motorcycle factory racers call the participants “nuts.”
Now, picture doing it on a sidecar seat belt. You will be flinging your body left and right to try to keep from flipping in the turns.

I’ve watched parts of the Isle of Man – it’s spectacular! And it’s CRAZY for those guys to be going that fast on a road course with all of its hazards. And that 132 mph is an average speed based on how long it takes to complete a lap – that’s insane!

I’ve seen a video of the ride IR’s talking about – I think Hardnox may be the one who sent it (?) but yeah, those guys are certifiable, as is this clown. Not only could he make a big splat, but he could also cause harm or death to innocent people. There’s just no need for that kind of speed unless it’s on a track.

Apparently no one has been able to get his license tag number since he sped off so fast.

A while back we saw a guy showing off and popping wheelies at an intersection and he came down at a bad angle, went over a curb, ran into a sign and ended up in the flower bed of a restaurant. It made for a really good bwahahaha moment.

    • Garnet92 says:

Yes he is a danger to himself and (more importantly) to others. I hope when they finally do get him, they throw the book at him – I wonder if they can take his license away and get his insurance cancelled – that is, assuming that they can’t take possession of his bike – if they can legally confiscate it, they should.

  5. britt says:

This guy is fueling the federal government to ban the sale of sport bikes in the us south carolina and conneicut has already put a law on the books to ban 140 models in these two states

    • Garnet92 says:

Absolutely britt and guys like this idiot are the reason. This guy and others like him encourage laws that impact the ordinary, law-abiding citizens and screw things up for us.

I wonder how they selected those 140 models? Was it because of their ability to reach or exceed a certain mph speed?

  6. vonmesser says:

Maybe start issuing the cops sports-fishing spear guns with 500 feet of fishing line on them???

    • Garnet92 says:

They’re gonna need more than 500′ of line! That’s only about 2 seconds worth of line at 170! How ’bout just the spear gun and forget the fishing line!

  7. CW says:

I suspect this joker will either be caught or killed. Either way the cops will have the last laugh.

    • Garnet92 says:

I’ve like to see him get caught and serve some time for his dangerous actions. And after he’s released, limit him to riding a Cushman motor scooter from the 1950’s!

  8. Hardnox says:

These crotch rockets are insanely fast right out of the box. 180 is pretty standard. 200 with a bit of air intake work is no problem. 220 with some minor engine work.

This guy will end up as a skid mark with these antics. I’m surprised that with all the dashcams that they don’t know who the guy is yet. Hopefully he won’t get someone else killed before he satisfies his death wish.

  9. Eric says:

This guy belongs on the Bonneville Salt Flats.
