Quote Of The Day — June 7, 2015

Let me tell you the one thing I have against Moses. He took us forty years into the desert in order to bring us to the one place in the Middle East that has no oil!”

  1. Clyde says:

Who knew Meir had a sense of humor ?

    • Grouchy says:

She had a very dry sense of humor, that escaped a good many people. But she honed it in her years living in the United States. A mighty woman, indeed. In many ways, I compare her to Margaret Thatcher.

  2. Buck says:

After the Six Day War a political cartoon depicted Ms. Meir talking on the phone, “Yes, Mr. President, Israel will be glad to take over your war for cost plus 10%.”

    • Grouchy says:

I sometimes have wondered, if there might not have been more truth than fiction in that cartoon~! But Lyndon Johnson was President, then,,, ANYTHING might have been possible~!

  3. Uriel says:

Lol. Too bad she wasn’t around to find out that right off Israels shore is a Huge deposit,

    • Grouchy says:

When I saw this quote, Uriel, I thought of that, too. I’m glad you brought that up. But I don’t know what they’ve done to exploit that to their advantage.

  4. vonmesser says:

    Another 6-day war joke was:
    Q. Why did the war last 6 days?
    A. The Izzies rented the tanks by the week.
