Quote Of The Day — May 21, 2015

To educate a person in the mind but not in morals is to educate a menace to society.”

The first thought that hit me…When Prayers stopped in our schools to being the day with….everything went South after that.
When I was in Grade School, and all the way up to High School, Prayers-a devotional began the day.
After the Prayer, ever person in every class stood up…placed their hand over their hearts and faced the American Flag and stated our Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States.

    • Grouchy says:

Same with me, Upaces, and the whole school gathered around the flag pole, in front of the school, to say the Pledge of Allegiance, and hear the morning devotional. But remember – This was shortly after WW2, and during the days of the Korean Conflict, and American pride was at a peak.
Not so, with the Apologist in Chief we have as a “leader” now~!

  2. Hardnox says:

I’m guessing the word “indoctrinate” wasn’t in the lexicon a hundred years ago because they sure aren’t getting educated today. Now all we get is indoctrinated menaces demanding free stuff.

    • Grouchy says:

There are politicians today who are being held accountable for the actions of their ancestors four and five generations back, and being judged and condemned for those actions.
How so right you are, Hardnox. “Indoctrinated menaces” says it to a “T” ~!

  3. CW says:

Morality can be taught in school without bringing in religion. A properly run school that focuses on the one goal of giving students a great education must also dictate that students not get away with lying, cheating, behaving inappropriately or hurting others. In doing so, students are taught morality simply by being required to behave morally. Everything else belongs at home.

  4. Uriel says:

Good find. CW your are right. Basic tenants including morals of a good society do Not have include religion but religion practiced at home with a good foundation of morals Is a must. Court intervention, PC, and corrupt child services and cruelty or neglect in homes now have taken a huge toll on our morals and societal structure. Teaching truth and facts has been subverted by PC and indoctrination.

    • Grouchy says:

Good points, Uriel. But I have often wondered, “Who the hell defines what is PC, and what isn’t?”
Our Nation was founded on the highest guiding principles available to humankind at the time, and even today. But God and Jesus have been kicked to the curb, as it were, and all kinds of trash talk has been allowed, and is being followed.
Our Nation will not long endure, under those circumstances. NOR will humanity, itself.

      • Uriel says:

Sadly true, God will only take so much I fear for our country. We do have to answer to our higher power. PC is prevailing loudest mouths ideas of what THEY themselves want others to do but want not to do themselves

  5. Clyde says:

Good post. What a FAR cry today’s “progressives” are from what Theo. Roosevelt was.

    • Grouchy says:

Amen to that, Clyde. He was a Progressive when being progressive meant contributing to society, and being a person of integrity and responsibility.
But his cousin Franklin did a number on that definition, BIG time.
