EMP A Real Threat

(Picture from wikihow —  Build-an-EMP-Generator!)

We already know that Russia has reopened ballistic missile sales to Iran. We already know from hundreds of articles over the years that our infrastructure is seriously outdated and ill-prepared for cyber attacks and EMP attacks. We already know Democrat-run congresses of the last 20 years have been do nothing but get raise congresses while gutting our federal monies and delivering us into the hands of world loan sharks. But finally at least one responsible group is gearing up for possible emp attacks. So when is Congress going to get off their buttowskis and prepare the country?

NORAD Returns to Cheyenne, Warns of EMP Attack

The potential of a devastating attack to the US power grid by nuclear states such as North Korea or Iran has prompted the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) to return to its former location inside Cheyenne Mountain near Colorado Springs, Colorado, two former Reagan-era government officials write in The Wall Street Journal.

“Why the return?” write Henry F. Cooper and Peter Vincent Pry. “Because the enormous bunker in the hollowed-out mountain, built to survive a Cold War-era nuclear conflict, can also resist an electromagnetic-pulse attack, or EMP.”

While the Pentagon is moving to shield its global air defense command from being knocked out by an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack, the Obama administration has failed to act on urgent recommendations to protect the country’s civilian electronic infrastructure from a similar catastrophe, they write.

“An EMP strike, most likely from the detonation of a nuclear weapon in space, would destroy unprotected military and civilian electronics nationwide, blacking out the electric grid and other critical infrastructure for months or years,” Cooper and Pry write.

“The staggering human cost of such a catastrophic attack is not difficult to imagine.”

The likeliest source of such an attack would be North Korea or Iran, according to Cooper, former director of the Strategic Defense Initiative, launched by the late President Ronald Reagan, and Pry, executive director of the EMP Task Force on National and Homeland Security and a veteran of the Central Intelligence Agency.

Iran is a nuclear-ready state with ballistic missiles capable of striking the United States now, Cooper, Pry and two other Reagan administration alumni wrote in an op-ed for Newsmax in February.

The Heritage Foundation  founded in 1973 is a research and educational institution—a think tank—whose mission is to formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense.  In 2011, it prepared an abstract on the EMP problem called “Sixteen Steps to Comprehensive Missile Defense: What the FY 2012 Budget Should Fund then followed it up with further essays and papers until the last one I saw which was EMP Awareness Day-The First Step to Averting Disaster.   I am guessing at that point they simply felt that they had prepared enough on the problem while no one was really willing to listen.

They warned repeatedly of Obama’s ignoring or deliberately reducing military preparedness.  After reviewing his real expenditures during sequestration online, I absolutely agree that he completely diverted funds into his general office and attorney general accounts rather than having expenditures on military.  It appeared to me he choked all funds during the entire time for only his precious pets rather than being a hardnosed commander who kept spending in line with needs of protecting our country. Of course, that comes as no surprise and has been born out as leaks of 100’s of thousands of dollars have been spent on frivolities like office furniture, vacations (his), parties, and more. Any amount of which, most particularly his, should have gone to military preparedness.  (And let’s not forget the price tag of his new super class Airforce One.) ** Hmm, isn’t there a new congressman just fired for the same over-the-top spending?**

You know it is a serious matter when Wall Street people like Peter Vincent Pry and R. James Woolsey write a commentary in Wall Street Journal in August 2014 called “The Growing Threat from an EMP Attack”. The only 2015 article other than the one above that showed up on search is one done by Washington Examiner Iran Endorses Nuclear EMP.

So WHERE is Congress on this?  As usual, they are waiting on O’s pet dog DHS who was given a directive to get reports in to the Committee on Homeland Security outlining and explaining why they have not been following the law to get weapons of mass destruction information and preparedness moving in November 2014. They even passed two bills in December 2014 addressing this H.R. 3410 and 3438. Nothing so far in 2015 on this.  **Wonder Why?  Could it be DHS getting raked over other fires?  Oh my, poor guys.**

I would say DHS has to have new leadership, follow the law for immigration, and GET reports and activities underway to COORDINATE, PROTECT AND SERVE as mandated.  Forget O’s executive orders and do the job as already on the books.  He IS a lame quacker now and DHS has multiple lawful things to get done.

Meanwhile, O wastes more money playing nice-nice with Iran while a headline sits out there that says they endorse an EMP strike and constantly chant ‘death to America.’

Anyone who behaves like that is certainly not concerned about our safety, so we’ll have to hope we survive until we get a new president. Hopefully, one that will fix all his messes and not one who simply wants to carry on his agenda.

Couldn’t agree more. but my concern is that Iran will not let the days tick down till election but push for sooner than later reprisals.
