Ted Cruz is WRONG about the 2nd Amendment – according to this liberal “expert”

I guess that this “learned” writer missed the 2008 Supreme Court decision that found, for the first time, that the “right of the people to keep and bear arms” guaranteed by the Second Amendment applies to individuals outside the “well regulated militia” familiar to 18th-century Americans.

Yet the distortion continues. As usual, the truth matters not to these liberals, they just continue to spout their drivel, seemingly impervious to truth and accuracy. Indeed, as we notice so often, all of the liberal agenda dissipates like morning fog when the warm light of truth is shined on it. Without lies and distortion, their agenda couldn’t be sold, even to a low-information public. So they have no alternative, they must lie and obfuscate else they’ll soon be extinct.

I guess that Sarah has no idea who Ted Cruz is because she, like MSNBC, accused Ted of “utter ignorance” of the Heller decision, apparently unaware that he argued that case and HE WON.

Ted Cruz on 2nd Amendment

Ted Cruz Just Proved He Has No Idea Why The Second Amendment Was Written

From: addictinginfo.org, by: Sarah, on: April 14, 2015, see the article HERE.

Recently at the NRA’s annual circle jerk convention, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) was asked about the Second Amendment, and of course he catered to his audience with an answer that made them all warm inside — albeit completely incorrect. He said:

“When it comes to Constitutional rights, what matters is what the Bill of Rights says. It doesn’t matter what might be popular at the moment.”

Popular opinion is with the Second Amendment. There’s that whole “well regulated” part in the first half, but I know that’s incredibly inconvenient to most who just want to live in the wild wild west and pretend they’re the Lone Ranger. Besides, the first half of the Second Amendment just gets in the way of the part that let’s any Tom, Dick, or Sally have a gun… but alas, the first half is there. The amendment reads:

“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

So yes, Cruz, popular opinion of gun lovers shouldn’t trump the Constitution, they should be well regulated. Cruz continued on, though:

“We’ve seen regimes across the face of the earth come and take away people’s guns, strip away their rights to defend themselves and sometimes it’s been very popular. And yet it is an inevitable prelude to tyranny.”

Favorite GOP keyword alert! — “TYRANNY” (ahhh!)

Who’s coming for the guns, Ted? Who? That’s right. No one… most logically thinking people just want to keep guns from people who shouldn’t have them. Every gun… EVERY gun came from a gun manufacturer, correct? Thus, every gun was once legally sold. Then they become illegally sold, and sold again, and again, and again….. so those darn liberals want to figure out a way to prevent that cycle of illegal gun trade from happening — by putting restrictions on every sale with universal background checks. This doesn’t prevent law-abiding citizens from having or obtaining guns and it also doesn’t strip guns from anyone, it simply puts a measure in place to help curb illegal sales.

Cruz, however, voted no on universal backgound checks when it came up for a vote in the Senate. Here’s his reasoning why:

“The Second Amendment is there so you and I could protect our homes, our families, and our children and our lives. And it’s also there as a fundamental check on government tyranny and that ultimately is not subject to public opinion polls, it’s subject to the express protections of the Bill of Rights of the Constitution.”

No, Cruz, that’s not why it was written. Let’s have a little history lesson…

When the Constitution was written, first came Article 1 Section 8, and it says:

“To provide for calling forth the militia to execute the laws of the union, suppress insurrections and repel invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the militia, and for governing such part of them as may be employed in the service of the United States, reserving to the states respectively, the appointment of the officers, and the authority of training the militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress.”

You see, back in the days when the Constitution was written, most of the military that was used by the United States was in local militias. Militias that were to be trained, armed, regulated and called upon by the government when needed.

Oh, but how will we assure they are well regulated, armed and ready to go when needed? That’s where the Second Amendment comes into play:

“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

Great! Now we’re ready to go if any foreign invaders or insurrectionists against the government try to attack! Phew!

The Second Amendment isn’t protection of the citizens to protect themselves from the government… it is to assure the government has well-trained militias ready to go if needed to protect the United States of America.

This perversion of a highly outdated amendment needs to stop.

Now, we have this thing call “The United States Military” and they are armed and on the ready to repel invaders and keep us safe. And Amendments aren’t written in stone, Cruz… they can be repealed… or is alcohol still illegal and I’m just not aware?

Should Americans still be allowed to own guns? Sure, but to be well regulated by the government. We shouldn’t be a nation of vigilantes. That’s just asking for trouble (ex. George Zimmerman).

Ted Cruz is doing what politicians do best, catering to his audience and telling them what they want to hear for votes. However, he is severely wrong about the Second Amendment.

I hope that you found it informative to see what Sarah (who no doubt fancies herself a 2nd Amendment scholar) has to say about Ted Cruz and his understanding of the 2nd Amendment. I wonder if she knows about Ted’s credentials? She presumes to correct Ted Cruz, of whom Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz said, was “off-the-charts brilliant” and who was one of the attorneys who participated in the 2008 Heller decision by the Supreme Court upholding the individual’s right. And then mentioning George Zimmerman as an example of a vigilante? And no one is “coming” for our guns? This is an example of what we’re up against folks.

As Ronald Reagan so famously said,  ‘It isn’t so much that liberals are ignorant. It’s just that they know so many things that aren’t so’

  1. Hardnox says:

“Liberal Expert”… that’s a disqualifier right there. Those two words are exclusive.

  2. Kathy says:

It’s stories like this where the first amendment works against us because it gives her the right to spew this garbage. This woman doesn’t have the slightest clue and will be the first to cry for help when the SHTF because she gave her guns to the government.

We need to mandate birth control for libs, so they stop multiplying, then we need to mandate they pass a civics test before they’re allowed to vote.

  3. I.R. Wayright says:

When the USC was written, the phrase “well regulated” meant well supplied and provisioned, not regulated by laws and excessive regulations.
And as far as “No one is coming to take them” our weapons were threatened in Connecticut and New York until people failed to register and resisted turning in their so called “assault wapons” and large capacity magazines. So, yes, if liberals (A.K.A. communists) had their way, we would soon be disarmed and at thier mercy.
And the “fundamental change” would be irreversible.
Sadly, the mis-education of our young people continues at the hands of these bastards.

Sorry, guys….I don’t trust Cruz anymore. I have been bashed for it.
I watched him closely as he stood up like a GREAT GIANT to repeal Obama’s HCB.
He went on and on about it. I LOVED HIM THEN!!! GO TED!!\

Then he signed up for the Obama HCB.

Hospitals, clinics began failing because it didn’t pay.
I guess Ted and Most people don’t understand that Obama’s HCB destroy small community hospitals and/or clinics as well as country doctors in small clinics in the area.

Your child or grand-child falls out of the tree? You can no longer go to the local emergency center vs. a large hospital where they charge you anywhere from $7.00 to $10.00 for an aspirin.. WELCOME TO BIG PHARMA.

    • I.R. Wayright says:

You apparently didn’t hear Ted’s explanation did you Ace? He said that his wife resigned her job at Goldman Sachs in Texas when he announced his presidential bid. This was to preclude any conflict of interest. He then had to get healthcare coverage that had been provided by his wife’s former employer. So, since he believes that congress should be subjected to all laws they pass, he signed up under the ACA. I think that makes him a stand up guy. Would you care to rethink your position now?

      • Kathy says:

I agree with you, IR – that’s exactly why he did it – in order to comply with the law…as it stands. It’s not a sell out when you follow existing law, bad that they may be.

        • vonMesser says:

Right. He was faced with two choices. Since we are required by law to have health care, Cruiz must sign up for it somewhere. He had it through his wife, who lost care when she took leave of absence from her job.

Choice 1. Do NOT sign up for care. Just think what the liberals would do with that.
Choice 2. Sign up. Since he is a government employee, he MUST use O-care.

He also stated that he would NOT accept the subsidy that every other Senator and Representative have accepted. So he is paying full price.

  5. tannngl says:

Amazing ignorance! This liberal woman has no knowledge of our history.

She doesn’t know our Revolution began with England’s door to door seizure of guns! What a dolt.

  6. vonMesser says:

    Yep, totally unaware of Heller.
