Man with concealed carry stops slaughter

An armed passerby, carrying his permitted pistol, is being credited with saving the lives of several people when he stepped in off the street and killed a gunman shooting at occupants of a Philadelphia barbershop.

The incident Sunday began when a man, identified by police only by his age, 40, pulled out a gun and opened fire on barbers and customers inside Falah Barber Shop.

“They were arguing,” Yusaf Mack, 16, a customer inside the shop at the time told WCAU News. “They were taking it too far, and one of the barbers said, ‘chill out.’”

“I heard gunshots, so I ducked and I ran,” said Mack.

While the gunman was shooting, a passerby responded to the gunfire, running into the shop and pulling his own gun. He opened fire and struck the gunman in the chest.

“He just shot him, and when he was done shooting, he ran,” Mack said.

The 40-year-old gunman was taken to Presbyterian Hospital, where he died.

Despite all the gunfire and presence of children in the shop, there were no other injuries.

The armed Good Samaritan later turned himself into police, and while the incident is still under investigation, officials said they see it as a case of self-defense.

“The person who responded was a legal gun permit carrier,” Police Capt. Frank Llewellyn told WCAU News. “He responded, and I guess he saved a lot of people in there.”

This DRT story is short and sweet – yet another occasion of a good guy with a gun stopping a bad guy with a gun (permanently). But don’t tell any of your liberal acquaintances, they don’t want to admit that such things really happen – it might send their atrophied little brain into an endless logic loop (which is kinda like a “sleep” mode on a laptop).

Upon hearing the gunfire, the man ran into the shop, not thinking about himself first, but about the possible victims – not many people would do that. Kudos to him.

“The person who responded was a legal gun permit carrier,”

Why is it the quotes here express the thinking of even many pro gun people?
WTF do you have to have PERMISSION to exercise your Second Amendment Rights?

Because we’ve let the federal government run amok, that’s why. Fortunately, the tide has turned to an extent and even through licenses must still be granted (they shouldn’t be necessary), more states are granting carry licenses and going to open carry. So yes, permits SHOULDN’T be necessary, but given that they are, we are still making headway against the anti-gun folks.

    Great story, Garnet.

To be on the safe side conservatives should introduce laws that prohibit lawsuits in cases where people involved in shooting incidents are cleared for self-defense. No one in this circumstance should have to pay one dime for a lawyer to defend against a lawsuit in civil court.

    • Garnet92 says:

That would be a good law CW – loser pays may yield that result in court – but you’re right that a law-abiding citizen exercising his/her 2nd Amendment rights in self defense shouldn’t have to pay a dime.

Good post, Garnet. Glad to see the BGWAG was made DRT by a GGWAG.

As we all know, it happens often, but most of the country doesn’t have a clue ’cause it doesn’t fit the gun control agenda of the mass media. They are becoming more useless by the day.

Good post. I am surprised no one happened to mention the barber shop name or the name of the 16 year old. The person who was the samaritan was not named . However it is worth mention that he went into a shop with a name normally associated with the Middle East and Islam.

And almost certainly saved some of the patrons – the assailant was apparently a pretty poor shot cause no one was hit (except him) and most barber shops aren’t very big. If he’d been allowed to continue to shoot, surely someone would have been hit. This was a case of an armed citizen SAVING lives, you’d think that it would make the evening news across the country – but no, it won’t. Thanks Uriel.

I love DRT stories especially coming from the “City of Brotherly Love”.
