Quote Of The Day — March 24, 2015

Since Man has inalienable individual rights, this means that the same rights are held, individually, by every man, by all men, at all times. Therefore, the rights of one man cannot and must not violate the rights of another.

For instance: a man has the right to live, but he has no right to take the life of another. He has the right to be free, but no right to enslave another. He has the right to choose his own happiness, but no right to decide that his happiness lies in the misery (or murder or robbery or enslavement) of another. The very right upon which he acts defines the same right of another man, and serves as a guide to tell him what he may or may not do.

Great quote by Ms. Rand, Grouchy. This is what it all comes down to.

    • Grouchy says:

G’Morning, CW. Yes, it is. Now, if only the inhabitants of SpaceShip Earth could learn the lessons inherent in this, we’d be a LOT better off, all the way ’round~!

  2. vonMesser says:

Good. But I do have some qualms. I believe I do have the right to take another’s life to save mine – or to save that of my family and friends. I also believe I have then right to take another life for long-term saving (execute a murderer to prevent recurrence)

    • Grouchy says:

G’Morning, VM. ALL actions have consequences. And I do believe your trepidations are answered in this snippet: “but no right to decide that his happiness lies in the misery (or murder or robbery or enslavement) of another.”

That would include actions taken by you against another, OR~! actions taken by another against you (or society at large. And society is no more and no less than a gathered group of individuals.)

Under no circumstances is a human (Male or Female~!) meant to be a doormat for another. EVERY individual has the right and prerogative to self-defense. And those who would betray and deny those rights are subject to the consequences outlined in properly constituted laws and regulations.

Many people do not understand, that the “Golden Rule” is also a two-edged sword. It applies to the aggressor just as much as the pacifist.

Thank You for bringing these points to the fore.
