Quote Of The Day — February 27, 2015

.
There are three ways that men get what they want; by planning, by working, and by praying. Any great military operation takes careful planning, or thinking. Then you must have well-trained troops to carry it out: that’s working. But between the plan and the operation there is always an unknown. That unknown spells defeat or victory, success or failure. It is the reaction of the actors to the ordeal when it actually comes. Some people call that getting the breaks; I call it God. God has His part, or margin in everything. That’s where prayer comes in.

General George S. Patton (11 November 1885 – 21 December 1945)  As quoted in “The True Story of The Patton Prayer” by James H. O’Neill in Review of the News (6 October 1971)

  1. Uriel says:

    Amen. Good quote Grouchy!

    • Grouchy says:

Thanks, Uriel. Patton was quite a “Renaissance” man, and in his way, a very humble man. But there are those who would disagree with that statement, too.

  2. upaces88 says:

Patton is STILL talked about even today.

  3. upaces88 says:

P.S. This is worded by NOW….He mentions Harry Reid.

  4. captbogus2 says:

Patton was right on this as he was on just about everything else.

    • Grouchy says:

      G’Morning, Capt. Yes, he was.
The “Powers That Be” at the time could not handle his innate Power, Honesty and Integrity. He was only 60 when they did him in.
What could he have done, in another ten, fifteen years?

  5. Clyde says:

We could use a SHITBOAT full of Pattons today. Not only in the military, but the dismal enterprise known as the federal government. Good one, GF.

    • Grouchy says:

You’re right, Clyde. If we had a decent CIC, we wouldn’t have to worry. But the thing in the White House now got rid of all our decent and worthy commanders. All we have now are (for a LARGE part) nincompoop wannabes. Those of worth, value and patriotism are under cover, so to speak.

I grieve for our men of ability in the military today.

    • upaces88 says:

Obama fired, retired and/or persecuted the best knowing they would ALL have fought for us!!!
