Today is Chris Kyle Day in Texas

From Breitbart:

February 2nd is Chris Kyle Day, declared Texas Governor Greg Abbott. Abbott announced his intention to make the declaration official later today. The slain hero has come under fire recently as left-of-center celebrities and media personalities have insisted that patriotic Americans honoring Kyle were, in essence, worshiping a “coward” and a soldier who went on “killing sprees,” despite the fact that Kyle’s shooting has been credited with saving the lives of countless numbers of U.S. soldiers.

Perhaps discouraged by the complete success of “American Sniper,” the film that memorializes the life of Kyle, left-of-center talking heads reacted in outrage at the tangible proof Americans still felt deeply appreciative of the sacrifices soldiers make to protect the rest of us. Decades of efforts to magnify anything and everything wrong that soldiers do in war did not have the desired effect; Americans came out in droves to honor the American soldier.

The Governor stated, “In honor of a Texas son, a Navy SEAL and an American hero – a man who defended his brothers and sisters in arms on and off the battlefield – I am declaring February 2nd Chris Kyle Day in Texas. We will commemorate his passing. But more importantly, remembering his answering of the call of duty.”

Governor Abbott announced Chris Kyle Day during a recent speech at the Texans Veterans of Foreign Affairs Mid-Winter Convention. His speech is provided below:

It’s an honor to be here with all of you who’ve served our country. America is the brightest beacon of freedom the world has ever known for one simple reason – because of you – our veterans, the men and women who put service above self.

My extended family looks a lot like this crowd today – they’ve served in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. My brother Gary served 20 years in the United States Navy and served in the Persian Gulf at the same time as you, Roy. I’ve seen firsthand the sacrifice you and your families have made.

In times of war and in times of peace, heroes among us have stepped forward. You are those heroes. You stood in the face of dangers known and unknown and protected us from threats from around the world. You sacrificed so much, asked for so little in return, other than the freedom you fought do defend. On behalf of all Texans, I want to thank you for your commitment to our country.

Thank you Governor Abbott for recognizing a man who dedicated his life to America. He did his utmost to protect his fellow soldiers on the battlefield and back home in civilian life.

Governor Abbott stands up against the lunacy of the left with a most appropriate expression of gratitude and patriotism.

That which falls from the southbound end of a northbound sheep has more meaningful use than those who disparage and castigate people for this event. Suit them up, put them in line of fire on any battle field. Let’s see if in a fight would they accept or in fact beg for sniper help. I resent the word worship on so many levels. This is in honor of one man but through him honoring all who answer a call to protect, serve, and yes to kill if necessary to defend our country’s principle and laws. There may be a time in the near future when we all must stand and deliver. When that happens, pity the ones who’s voices stood with our enemies. They will be the first to fall not at our hands but by terrorists who value dupes and suck ups on a lower scale than those who stand by their principles. A snake by nature can never be a warm and protective friend for when pangs of hunger strike even its young become dinner And when angered will strike the very hand that tends and feeds it without a single qualm.

When that time comes to stand and deliver, Moore and his ilk will be cowering behind locked doors, crying for protection. They deserve no mercy.

Ooohrah… what Abbott said… what you said.

This should/has twisted the left’s panties in a wad. I love it.

If there are ANY cowards, it is those of Jabba The Moore and his ilk. I think the reason Mooreon hates this film is because he wasn’t SMART enough to make it, along with it’s resounding success. Good for Gov. Abbott, honoring Kyle in this way.

    • Kathy says:

Jealousy from the start, Clyde, pure and simple. Twice the size of Eastwood, yet half the man.

    • vonmesser says:

It’s not that the Mooreon wasn’t smart enough, it’s that he couldn’t. after all, how can a hateful, terrorist loving anti-American maker a film that shows an American (any American) as the good guy?

To my fellow Texans here on H&F, I think that we have ourselves a good guy in Governor Greg Abbott.

I’m pleased that he is honoring Chris Kyle and our military in general AND I heard him debating Bill Bennett on the radio the other day and Governor Abbott did his best to explain why Texas will NOT accept Common Core. Two check marks in the “good” column for Governor Abbott.

Abbott once described his daily routine since President Obama took office: As Texas’ Attorney General, “I go into the office, I sue the federal government and I go home.”

PolitiFact rated the statement that he has sued the Obama administration 25 times, as True.

    • Kathy says:

Ditto that, Garnet, we got ourselves a good one. I’ve always loved that line he used too, and I’m hopeful that his latest suit over amnesty packs the biggest punch of all.

I am SO Proud of him for doing that!
