Like ICE In Your Drink ?

Well, Bucko, if you DO, you are an Enemy Of The Environment, according to the latest lunacy from the Regime.

I’ve made quite a lot of hay with these posts exposing the absolute nuttiness of the “greens” in their quest to make GOVERNMENT do to everyone what THEY cannot do THEMSELVES. Here is some more.

The great Michael Bastasch, at The Daily gives us the square cube.

Feds Tighten Regulations On Hotel Ice Makers To Fight Global Warming

People often think government climate rules target power plant, refineries or automakers. But government regulators also look at controlling products people use everyday in their crusade against global warming. This week’s target: hotel ice makers.

As part of President Obama’s “Climate Action Plan,” the Energy Department tightened its energy efficiency standards for “automatic commercial ice makers,” which include the machines used by hotels, restaurants and convenience stores to make the ice we use everyday. The push was part of a larger DOE effort to fight global warming by tightening energy standards for lamps and other consumer goods.

“As part of President Obama’s climate action plan, the Energy Department set an ambitious goal of finalizing 10 energy efficiency standards this year, and with the new efficiency standards for general service fluorescent lamps and automatic commercial ice makers, we have reached that goal,” said Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz.

“The Energy Department is committed to building on this progress, and will continue to develop standards that move the U.S. closer to a low-carbon future,” Moniz said.

Cracking down on ice makers will save Americans $600 million in the next 30 years and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 4 million metric tons, according to the DOE. Combined with the DOE’s new fluorescent lamp standard, energy efficiency rules are projected to save Americans $78 billion through 2080 and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 435 million metric tons.

Using the government’s “social cost of carbon” estimate, DOE says reducing carbon dioxide will result in $360 million in benefits from avoided global warming — even though China plans to emit vastly more carbon emissions than DOE could hope to cut.

The DOE began regulating commercial ice makers in 2005, mandating that ice makers made in 2010 and beyond meet certain energy and water conservation standards. Regulators say that a more stringent standard is needed to fight global warming and increase energy efficiency.

Environmentalists have long urged the Obama administration to increase energy efficiency in appliances and commercial equipment, including ice makers.

“Improving the performance of ice makers and other appliances and equipment is an important part of President Obama’s Climate Action Plan goal to capitalize on the potential of energy efficiency standards to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 3 billion metric tons by 2030,” wrote Meg Waltner, an energy efficiency expert at the Natural Resources Defense Council.

“The proposed rule for ice makers adds to the list of proposed and final rules issued already this year… which demonstrate DOE and the administration’s commitment to meeting this goal,” Waltner wrote.

While environmentalists support this rule, it will do little to actually address global warming. In 2012, the U.S. emitted 6.5 billion metric tons of greenhouse gases, mostly carbon dioxide. DOE’s energy efficiency rules would only reduce emissions 435 million metric tons by 2080 — only about 7 percent of what the U.S. emits every year.

Will it EVER frigging END ?  We’ve seen everything from your electric toothbrush, to toasters, to coffee makers, now ice makers become targets of the assholes from the various environmentalist wacko groups.

How many TONS of ice was made by ELECTRIC ice makers for ANY ecoloon function in the past WEEK, let alone YEAR?

You can bet the farm unless this Meg Walthner lives in a fricking tent, HER refrigerator HAS AN ICEMAKER.

And, as always, there are the “official government estimates”. When THESE idiots say something, you just KNOW they are more full of shit than a Christmas Goose.

HERE is what will REALLY happen. The cost of ice makers will SOAR. You go to 7-11 or WaWa, or Speedway, whatever your local stop and rob is called, YOU are NEVER going to get a free cup of ice AGAIN, not to mention the hotels WILL remove the damned things if it impacts THEIR bottom line.

WHY is it these morons think MAN can “clean up the air”, when ONE volcano can NEGATE everything man tries to do in TEN YEARS, as it relates to CO2 emissions in the air. And, as for the argument of “saving consumers costs for energy”, WHEN was the last time you’ve heard, or read, about ANYONE’S electricity bill DROPPING by using LESS of it ?

The utilities have certain costs they MUST incur, whether you are using the juice or NOT. So, if EVERYONE is using LESS energy, thereby necessitating a slowing of electrical production, to the point they cannot hit their break even point, let alone DARE to make an EEEEEVVVVIIIILLLL profit, they WILL pass those costs on to….wait for it…. US.

Too bad there is NO ONE in D.C. smart enough to figure THAT one out.

CLYDE. Damn hard to drink “iced tea” with NO goddamn ICE.

In the old days, we could have just towed an ice berg down and chipped away at it.
    Now THEY are ALL GONE.

    We are Soooo screwed !

  2. CW says:

What in the world would we do without the geniuses in the gov’t figuring out ways to save us money? It’s a miracle the hotels have managed to stay in business this long without the gov’t micromanaging everything they do.

We stayed in a hotel recently. The taxes on the room equaled 15.75% of the bill, thanks to our friends in the gov’t “helping” us save money.

The lunacy of leftists keeps me employed here at the ol’ blog. Working TRIPLE time just to keep up with TODAY’S asshattery. Thanks, CW.

  3. Bill says:

So cracking down on ice machines will save 600 million??????? How much will
    1. The new regulationsm cost?
    2. Replacing old machines cost?
    3. What will those cost increases do to the costs of hotel/motel rooms?
    4. How many new inspectors and bureaucrats are needed to enforce the new rules?

    • Clyde says:

Well, Bill, you can safely bet costs, nor taxes will go down. With these idiots, the cost scale is going through the roof. Thanks for dropping in.

    • Clyde says:

Insane, GF ? Nah, just part of the plan. I’m wondering what the hell world leftists are living in. THESE costs have GOT to be affecting THEM as well.

  4. Grouchy says:

This is beyond insane. As if we needed more proof that the inmates are running the insane asylum,,,
And forgive me for insulting the insane~!

  5. Kathy says:

These people just keep taking stupid to a whole new level. In addition to what this costs for businesses, I would guess that there a quite a few ice machines in the Energy Dept.’s building and no doubt we paid to have them all replaced – probably all new machines throughout the entire government.

All because somebody set a standard and nobody said no.

The worst part – it’s all based on the biggest hoax ever.

    • Clyde says:

You’ve knocked it out of the park again, Kathy. The loons running the asylum NEVER take costs into account when dreaming up this shit. Look no further than automobiles to see the result of their “concern and caring”. It is obvious the lower the common sense level, the BETTER the chances are of ending up with a government job. It is also part and parcel of Americans becoming MORE afraid of the government than they are of US. THAT has GOT to change if we’re to put an end to this lunacy.

My Lord! I cannot EVEN wrap my head around this!!! Are they smokin’ out of the same Pipe?

  7. Hardnox says:

This would be unbelievable with another administration. Sadly, none of this shit would be possible IF there was Congressional oversight. Agencies are not permitted to make law. Unfortunately Congress is letting them do just that.
