DC Lawmakers Float Bill to Allow Non-Citizens to Vote

Washington Times:

A bill introduced by D.C. lawmakers would grant some immigrants lacking U.S. citizenship the ability to vote in municipal elections.

The Local Resident Voting Rights Act of 2015 would allow D.C. residents who are not U.S. citizens but meet the federal definition of having permanent residency status to cast ballots in local elections, including races for mayor and the D.C. Council as well as initiatives and charter referendums. D.C. Council member David Grosso, at-large independent, introduced the legislation Tuesday.

In a statement announcing the introduction of the bill, Mr. Grosso cited statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau that indicate the District is home to nearly 54,000 foreign-born residents who are not naturalized U.S. citizens.

“These are taxpayers who should have the opportunity to have their voices heard in local elections,” he said.

Similar bills were unsuccessfully introduced in 2013 by Mr. Grosso, and in 2004 by then-D.C. Council member Jim Graham.

Neighboring Takoma Park also allows non-U.S. citizens to vote in local elections.

Who didn’t see this coming from a mile away? When O first hit us with immigration reform wanting to grant amnesty to millions of illegals, we knew this would be the next step.

DC local politics being what they are, it’s likely this will pass. For now one just has to be a permanent resident, so how long until it’s changed to “just a resident”, whether legal or illegal. And then how long until even illegal immigrant are allowed to vote for president? Isn’t that the goal for this administration – trading votes for amnesty?

Can’t you just see future election days where we’re waiting for the results to come in from Guadalajara or Monterrey?

Then there’s the problem of state (not applicable to DC) and federal elections. If non-citizens are allowed to vote, who is going to make sure they don’t get ballots that only have municipal candidates and issues? The same people who allowed 107%+ voter participation with 100% Obama votes in mostly-liberal precincts all over the country in 2012?

Does anybody still believe we can get this country back to following the USC, without a bloody fight?

    • Kathy says:

I don’t see how, IR. If Congress doesn’t do something this go-round we can pretty much chalk it up. Then it will be time for us to go fix it our way.

  3. Clyde says:

More reason to get that meteor to hit D.C. Hell, the democrats get away with MASSIVE fraud as it is, WHY do they need THIS horseshit ?

  4. Dan Somerby says:

We can’t allow this for non citizens to vote in any type of USA elections.
What would be next? Several states are already giving illegals drives licenses IS that really an incentive for the illegals to go through the process to stay her in USA? (Rhetorical question)

    • Kathy says:

Thanks for jumping in the conversation, Dan. You brought up the drivers licenses they’re handing out like candy, especially in CA. In many states that’s all you need to vote.

Like Crawfish said, the next step is state and federal elections, and that’s just the way they want it.

Just another reminder of how dangerous the leftists are, for they are the enablers.

I knew it! ! Obama KNOWS he didn’t have a chance in hell for a 3rd Term. At one point, he said, “I may suspend the elections.”
This is all about HIM and the others who betray us.
We are are deep trouble and I don’t know if we’ll be able to get out of it.

It’s another case of that damned stinkin’ camel’s nose under the tent again. This is another small first step and I’ll bet that it won’t be ten years before Congress will be “debating” the voting status of illegal aliens (now called Transitional Visitors). The border MUST be SHUT DOWN and NO benefits given to those here illegally. Period.

    • Kathy says:

Transitional visitors? I hadn’t heard that and won’t be using that particular terminology. Call them what they are – illegal democrat voters.
