House Votes to Overturn O’s Executive Immigration Action

From IJ Review:

The House of Representatives voted to overturn President Obama’s executive actions on immigration by a margin of 236-191 on Wednesday.

The vote also overturns a directive from 2012 that safeguarded immigrants who illegally came to the United States as children.

Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) spoke on the House floor to praise the legislation, which had a surprisingly large amount of support from moderate Republicans. Boehner said:

“Let me thank all my colleagues who have worked to put this bill together.  Today I rise – and the House rises – to support and defend our Constitution.

We do not take this action lightly, but simply there is no alternative.  This is not a dispute between the parties, or even between the branches of our government.  This executive overreach is an affront to the rule of law and to the Constitution itself.

I appreciate all the efforts of those working to fix our broken immigration system, especially since I’m one of them.  But what we are dealing with is a president who has ignored the people, has ignored the Constitution, and even his own past statements.”

The legislation faces fierce opposition from Congressional Democrats, though. Rep. Steve Israel (D-NY) conveyed his disdain for the bill, saying that he deemed to be overtly motivated by politics:

“For the first time in history, they are holding our security hostage to the politics of immigration.”

The measure was an amendment to the Department of Homeland Security’s funding legislation. The vote could result in deportations of President Obama’s highly-touted “Dreamers.”

The measure, in addition to blocking executive immigration actions, provides $40 billion to fund the Department of Homeland Security until September. The bill also includes additional spending for cyber security operations and the Secret Service.

With the passage of this legislation, Congressional Republicans have lined up another veto threat from President Obama, who has vowed to terminate the bill should it pass the Senate and reach his desk.

Ok, who is this guy and what did you do with the real John Boehner? You know, the mealy-mouthed one that kisses O’s butt all the time? This is a good start and we’ll see where it goes and if in fact O does veto it.

It seems Mr. Israel of NY doesn’t like it when the shoe is on the other foot. The Senate has held us and our Constitution hostage for 4 years – we just got our freedom back, or at least a taste of it. I would remind him that Congress makes law, not the jerk in the Oval Office.

Oh! Thank God~ Okaaay now, how is he going to do an end run around this?
He will try…he needs a stronger voter base…Why? Don’t you rememnber when he said, “I may suspend elections.”(?)

Would someone please explain to me what part of our immigration system is broken and needs fixing? Seems to me if existing laws were enforced, everything would function as intended. How exactly did Reagan grant anyone amnesty in the 1980s?
Why hasn’t the fence, which was funded, been built? Why aren’t we fortifying the borders with gun emplacements if we are at war (or others have declared war on us)?
If we trust this current government to “improve” the immigration situation with new legislation, we are only going to be disappointed. If the executive branch won’t EXECUTE, impeach the bastard.
These chickens are going to come home to roost and some have already been roosting too damned long. Turn loose the foxes.
Why do they keep coming here? Don’t they understand no tengo dinero?
