Backs Turned as De Blasio Speaks at Ramos Funeral

From Breitbart:

Thousands of NYPD officers turned their backs on Mayor Bill de Blasio as his speech at Officer Rafael Ramos’s funeral Saturday morning.

The NYPD’s ceremonial unit gave Officer Ramos’s widow an American flag.

Last Saturday, 28-year-old Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley shot Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu in their patrol car, parked at the Bedford-Stuyvesant Area of Brooklyn at 2:47 PM. Earlier that day, Brinsley posted a photo of a gun with the caption, “I’m Putting Wings on Pigs Today… Let’s Take 2 of Theirs #ShootThePolice #RIPErivGarner #RIPMikeBrown This May Be My Final Post… I’m Putting Pigs in A Blanket.” Brinsley shot himself in a G-Train subway station after ambushing the officers.

“It’s difficult to find the words,” New York City Police Commissioner William J. Bratton said last Saturday night. “They were quite simply assassinated, targeted for their uniform.”

The pictures are courtesy of several guys on Twitter who say that the move seemed spontaneous rather than pre-arranged. It started as waves moving through the officers over several blocks after initially facing the Mayor.

De Blasio wasn’t wanted at the service and he knew it, yet he was there anyway and gave a speech. In the mayoral capacity it was the right thing to do, but considering that he’s guilty of fomenting the racism, this particular job should have been handed off to a subordinate.

  1. De Blasio knew the officers didn’t want him there yet he went. It seems to me like De Blasio was putting a rub in their faces. De Blasio has the morals of a tomcat. (I mean no insult to tomcats.)

  2. Grouchy says:

It was well known and publicized, that De Blasio is and was a muslim sycophant. His actions as a result, should be no surprise.

  3. CW says:

It’s refreshing to see the cops take a stand. I think it’s fitting that De Blasio should have spoken at the service so that he would have to publicly face the friends, family and police brotherhood and subject himself to their public scorn, but his role should have been minimized so that people who were actually supportive of this fallen officer would do the lion’s share of the speaking.

    • Kathy says:

You make a good point, CW and minimizing his role would have been the decent thing to do, rather than have his comments broadcasted on big screens around the area as I saw posted later at other sites.

  4. Bullright says:

Sort of like Obama, not wanted but front and center anyway.

  5. Terry says:

    Bravo, Officers !

  6. Hardnox says:

Good for the cops. De Communist ran his campaign as anti-cop… and won. What happened to the two cops should be no surprise to anyone. Now the mayor is begging for calm. What a hypocrite.

The people in NY got the leader they wanted. Recall anybody?
