A Sunday Feel Good Story – Inspiration From a 13-Year-Old

Every year shortly before Christmas, thousands of wreaths are placed on the graves at Arlington National Cemetery in honor of all the veterans who gave their lives for this country.

Seven years ago, this struck a note with now 13 year-old Alex DeMassie when he asked his dad why wreaths aren’t also placed on the graves at the Houston National Cemetery. They started an effort to change that and today, years later, it’s turned into a huge event with wreaths coming in from as far away as Maine. Click here to watch Channel 11’s coverage of the day.

While it’s sad that adults didn’t think to do this, it is heartwarming to see a young boy who was only 6 at the time, inspire others to honor our veterans. Kudos to you Alex and Merry Christmas.

A wonderful tribute. Thank You to young Alex DeMassie for recognizing at such an early age, the sacrifices that have been made for Our Country.

Here in Pensacola FL. we have Barrancas National Cemetery, which has also been doing this for years.

I know there are many more across the country, and hopefully, someday, ALL of them will participate.

  2. Clyde says:

Good find, Kathy. Refreshing to see a young person who TRULY gets it, instead of the mush the liberal indoctrination centers give them.

  3. CW says:

Great story, Kathy. Alex DeMassie is a rare breed.
