Ok, this may be business as usual for a political party.  Got it.  However, we are in deep trouble in this country.  I would hope that the RNC would be more concerned about the issues which matter most to the registered Republicans in the country.

Now I did search for a similar ‘straw poll’ about issues and did not find one published in a similar manner as the above list.  If there is one, please let me know.

That’s my take.  What’s yours?!

  1. We need to draft Ted Cruz, Herman Cain, Allen West, Sarah Palin, Condoleezza Rice, and Rand Paul as possible candidates!

  2. Hardnox says:

There are a lot of good choices on this list. The RNC has already determined who is on the shortlist. The media will then choose who is the most vulnerable and will lose to the Hildabeast.

    That’s my take.

    • Has the RNC really gone to picking our candidates for us? Then why even bother with primaries?

      • Hardnox says:

Good question. Yes they have… sort of. It boils down to $$$$$$$$$ that will be committed to candidates. Add volunteers to the process. Most states require a petition drive per county per candidate with a required number of signatures per petition. The ground game just to get a candidate on the list of choices is MASSIVE. Each state has unique rules.

Case in point: In 2012 in Virginia our primary choices were limited to only Romney and Ron Paul. That was it. All the rest of the candidates failed to get the required 1,000 signatures per county and were simply not on the ballot. It’s a function of bucks and volunteers. Virginia has 95 counties.

      • Mrs AL says:

Hardnox’s explanation is on point, FP.

        My snarky answer: Window Dressing

  3. Buck says:

Yeah, they think we are not ‘informed’ enough to make a good decision.

  4. Kathy says:

Yes, it makes my head spin. A straw poll is done to see which candidates the people are warming up to, but many of those ‘candidates’ aren’t even thinking of running.

Some of them don’t having the backing and aren’t widely known, and some of them are in the ‘already tried that’ category.

It’s a game where the RNC gives us a handful of conservatives and a handful of has-beens to choose from. It’s their way of making us think we’re actually making the choice, then they pick who they want.

  5. BrianR says:

These straw polls are meaningless. They’re just beauty contests; a way for the party to get some idea of members’ thoughts. They’re no different from those phone calls everybody gets at dinner time looking for money.

I recommend completely ignoring it; don’t read more into it that it deserves. Which is pretty much nothing.

  6. CW says:

They forgot one. The kitchen sink isn’t on the list.

  7. Where’s McCain and Boehner????? Lilly Lindsay Graham???

    • Mrs AL says:

Great observation, Grouchy. With all the names, I neglected to look for who wasn’t there! Maybe they are hidden in the kitchen sink? hehe

  8. Terry says:

    Poll opened at 8 am.
    Poll closed at 8:01 am.
What an upset. Chrisco wins ! (snark)

  9. Clyde says:

Some good names on that shit list, too bad they simply do not have a snowball’s chance in Hell, what with the completely inept buffoons running the RNC. Think Virginia. Cuccinelli. Good guy. Solid conservative. Absolutely PITCHED under the bus by the frigging PSP. If THOSE morons can get their heads out from the media’s sphincters, MAYBE there is a chance for someone worthy. Not holding my breath.
