Obama is Killing America’s Superpower Status

From Con Coughlin at Telegraph.co.uk:

US government shutdown: Barack Obama is presiding over the end of America’s superpower status

For a country that is supposed to be the most powerful in the world, the fact that Americans have today woken up to find large swathes of their nation closed for business is humiliating.

Thanks to President Barack Obama obduracy over his flagship healthcare policy, Democrats and Republicans have failed to reach agreement in Congress on the federal budget, forcing the US Government to close down for the first time in 17 years, with around 700,000 federal workers being placed on indefinite leave.

While the White House insists that essential areas of the government, such as the military, will continue to function, the shut down represents yet a further blow to the prestige of the Obama administration at a time when it is still reeling from its inept handling of the recent Syrian crisis.

There was a time not so long ago when the world looked to America for both political and economic leadership. But now that can no longer be taken for granted thanks to Mr. Obama’s inability to provide decisive leadership on either front.

Republicans rightly argue that by pressing ahead with Obamacare before the implications of the program have been properly assessed risks adding to America’s debt mountain at a time when the American economy is still recovering from the biggest economic crisis in recent history.

The emergence of Russia, meanwhile, as the main power broker in the Syria crisis has severely damaged America’s standing as a major global player.

In short, the longer the Obama presidency continues, the more America’s status as a superpower ebbs away.

I am embarrassed for my country and ashamed of our president, so I think Mr. Coughlin has the right of it when he says our status is ebbing away.

Though the shutdown is overstated, at least for now, it is humiliating to have a president and a Senate that refuses to negotiate, and a House that waited until the last minute to take a stand.

Thanks to them, this country is in a huge mess, and if we survive obama, it will take a miracle and a helluva man to serve as our next president. He, and presidents to follow, will have a massive clean-up job on their hands.

While we’re passing out “thanks”, mention MUST go to the following: The IDIOTIC low-information voter crowd, the parasite class, the abhorrent media, and last, but NOT least, guilty white liberals.

Russia is, at this moment, the dog on top of the pile, IMO. We’re a weak second at best.

Now I do my best not to submit to conspiracy theories, but I have to wonder if this isn’t all by design.

    • Kathy says:

I too try not to jump on that bandwagon, but practically everything points to it. Since I don’t believe in coincidence, I have to agree it’s by design.

    Great subject Kathy.

For me, our ascendency to the world’s top power came about as a result of WWII. As a bona fide geezer, I lived through that rise and while we occasionally screwed up, we held that position pretty much by acclamation. Other nations accepted that we were the big dog and it did give us the weight to influence others. We were respected, admired, and feared – all of which gave us tremendous influence. But no more.

Singlehandedly, the failed community organizer, never-tried-a-case attorney, present-voting state senator, ineffectual part-term U.S. Senator, and completely over-his-head president has finally found something he’s good at – sending a once-great nation into the crapper.

What a P.O.S. If what he’s doing doesn’t define the word “traitor,” I don’t know what does.

    • Kathy says:

A most excellent comment and summation of the situation, Garnet. We, as a country, and mostly due to our military strength, worked our butts off to become this superpower, and in this short time span, he’s all but diminished it completely.

As I’ve said before regarding ‘him’ – what a waste of humanity.

See my post under ‘Here comes the money part’ article….

  5. Hardnox says:

Good post. Zero can’t point to ONE thing accomplished during this administration that has been positive to America.

If that is not designed, then what is it? It’s not just incompetence or stupidity.

    • Kathy says:

Thanks. His goals were never for the good of America.

We’ve had some bad presidents over the years, but they all had two things going for them that this one doesn’t. They were all Christians and Americans.

Well, Grandad would say, “He ain’t smart enough to pour piss out of a boot if the directions were on the heel.”
