Environmentalists blame GOP for government shutdown.

2:17 AM  10/02/2013   by  Michael Bastasch

HEY, Envirowienies, HERE are the asshats RESPONSIBLE for the “government shutdown”. If you moonbats weren’t super-glued on STUPID, you would know that.

Dumber than the tree in the logo.

Environmentalists are railing against Republicans for the government  shutdown, saying environmental  protection and people  will suffer.

“The government shutdown we  now face means no cops on the beat against toxic pollution,” said Michael Brune,  executive director of the Sierra Club.

“The Sierra Club’s 2.1 million members and supporters agree with President Obama and Senator  Reid: any proposal demanding that Americans sacrifice the health of our planet  and our communities in exchange for keeping the government open is not a deal,  but blackmail of the worst kind,” Brune added. “Rather than make the American  people pay the cost in lost jobs and polluted air and water, House Republicans  need to ditch the political posturing and get back to work.”

The government shut down after Democrats and Republicans failed to come up  with an agreement to fund the  government.

Specifically, environmentalists have pointed to national parks being closed  as a way to show how a government affects the everyday lives of ordinary  Americans.

“It means that we’ll have to dress like oil executives if we want to visit  our national parks and monuments,” Brune said. “And it means House Republicans who  couldn’t achieve their reckless agenda through elections or legislation are  willing to sacrifice the health of our families and our communities to simply  score political points.”

However, free-market groups argue that if environmentalists and their  Democratic allies really cared about national parks, they would have voted with  Republicans to fund the government.

“This is a totally phony complaint that comes up every time there is a  federal shutdown or threat of a shutdown,” Myron Ebell, director of  International Environmental and Global  Warming Policy at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, told the Daily Caller  News Foundation. ”Those who are against closing the National Parks should  support the House legislation to keep the federal government funded.”

“If Majority Leader Reid and  Senate Democrats insist on shutting down most of the federal government, they  should have first passed legislation to keep the National Parks open.  They  have had the votes to pass such legislation for years in both the Senate and the  House,” Ebell added.

In the 1990s, visuals of people being turned away from the Grand Canyon and  other national landmarks fueled anger that helped end the shutdown.

“During the ‘96 shutdown, the White House put out a single topline message —  ‘the shutdown imperiled Medicare, Medicaid, education and the environment’ was the  mantra,” Paul Bledsoe, a senior fellow at the German Marshall Fund, told Politico. “One reason the environment rated was that  closed and gated national parks, wildlife refuges, and public lands, turning  away American families, became perhaps the iconic image on television, day after  day. The issue had a real impact in forcing an agreement.”

One of the favorite sequestration talking points of the Obama administration  was how budget cuts would hit the national parks system — making it harder for  people to visit their favorite monuments.

In fact, President  Barack Obama invoked the  closing of national parks and monuments in a statement on Monday night.

“Tourists will find every one of America’s national  parks and  monuments, from Yosemite to the Smithsonian to the Statue of Liberty,  immediately closed,” Obama said, talking about the government shutdown. “And of  course, the communities and small businesses that rely on these national  treasures for their livelihoods will be out of customers and out of luck.”

There are libertarians who argue that shutting down the parks would not even  be an issue if they were privatized. Letting private companies run the parks  would make them cleaner, safer, and better places to visit, argues Fox  Business’s John Stossel.

“[T]he creative minds of the private sector invent solutions that never occur  to government bureaucrats,” Stossel writes. “If government would just get out of  the way, entrepreneurship and innovation, stimulated by the profit motive, will  make our lives better.”

What the hell can you say to such BLATANT stupidity? Does the erstwhile  Michael Brune, executive director of the Sierra Club, FORGET just WHO said “I will not negotiate” ?

Or, this from King Asshat : “I will not negotiate with hostage-takers”. Mr. Brune, you’ve been eating way too many Grape-Nuts, and “organic” foods. It obviously has affected your ability for critical thinking. Try some RED MEAT. Or, remove your head from the democrats’ sphincters.

Here is the type of moronocy we are up against, and NO ONE from the GOP leadership will call ANY democrat out. No, THEY are too busy “negotiating” with THEMSELVES on how to bail out the DAMNED DEMOCRATS.

Say, PSP’ers. Try THIS to asshats like this Brune guy. “Go talk to the democrats. THEY refuse to negotiate to get your precious “cops” fighting toxic pollution” back to work”.

Not that the French Repubs have the stones for that type of talk.

  1. OMG~! OMG~! OMG~! What did the earth do for over 4.5 BILLION YEARS~!, without “,,, no cops on the beat against toxic pollution” ???
Years ago, I was invited to join Sierra Club. While I am NOT in favor of abuse of the environment, neither am I a “Classical Tree Hugger”~! There has to be a balance, here, and I kind of figure I’m a little more important to this earth than to NOT do something, because a Prairie Dog may be displaced a few hundred feet~!
Mein Gott~! Where in the Name of the Universe is the common sense???

Some folks neither think, nor have their priorities in place~!

Thanks, Clyde. I need another pissitivity meter.

    • BTW~! No, I did NOT join the Sierra Club, nor any other “environmental conservation group”. Just F Y I

      • Clyde says:

No problem, GF. Even if you HAD joined. This group, like SO many others who started out with good intentions, was taken over by socialists, communists, what have you.

        • garnet92 says:

I think you’re right on target, Clyde. At one time, the Sierra Club was a group that I too thought about joining – before they were taken over by those you named. I now think of them as in the same category as the ACLU, SEIU, and other groups in the tank for the left. I pay them no attention except for disdain. Who gives a shit what they think?

    • western guy says:

Hey GF, where I live we have an environmental use for prairie dogs…..first we test the zero on our rifles, then we recycle them as fertilizer….thought you would want to know…

  2. CW says:

    >>“And of course, the communities and small businesses that rely on these national treasures for their livelihoods will be out of customers and out of luck.”

This is like people in a war zone complaining that all the noise is interfering with thier naps, MILLIONS of Americans are being forced to pay for and/or partake in a healthcare system they don’t want and that’s going to bankrupt the country, so excuse me if I can’t work up any tears for people who lose a few bucks over the next few days. If it’s that important to you call your congressman and tell him to defund Obamacare.

  3. Buck says:

2.3 Million? Hmmm.. That’s .023% of the population. And we let them dictate our forestry industry?

    • Clyde says:

Along with our oil and gas industry, farming, fishing, you name it. Time for the MAJORITY of us to tell them to piss off. The ONLY reason they have this much power NOW was investing in democrats way back when. They pretty much are co-owners of the braying jackass party, along with Soros. Thanks, Buck.

  4. Hardnox says:

Good post. The founder of the Sierra Club left the organization a few years back because the group morphed into a bunch of socialists. True story.

This chicken little crap coming from the Left is really annoying.

  5. Buck says:

Sorry. I made a mistake. I based my estimate on one hundred million instead of two hundred million… It should be .0046%. I think.

  6. bullright says:

Not that they can speak English much better. But Sierra Club crying blackmail. Now that is pretty rich. And talk about being held hostage by terrorists….is that what happened to the Sierra Club?
