They Don’t Build Them like They Used To…

Check this out:

The 1921 Oilfield Dodge

I wouldn’t try that with my 4×4 truck today.  I would bet that anyone in Humvees wouldn’t try most of this either.

You’d be surprised what these guys did with the lightweight trucks of yesteryear. Imagine a Ford model AA, with a ton and a half rating, pulling 30,000lbs. of logs down a logging trail. Good one. If you like things like this, there are two excellent websites I recommend. justoldtrucks.com and aths.org.

So many things to say … so I will only ask, how did they get the roads around here in this video from back then? Now that’s photoshoping!

I really like the music too.

  3. Kathy says:

That’s some tough old trucks, eh? Kind of makes you appreciate our roads today.

Two words – tie rods. And no power steering. No seat belts either.

Nor air bags, air conditioning ( open window only), no cruise control, no stereo surround sound… Just darn good ole fashioned steel! Not the tin can stuff they make now!

Down here in the Redneck Riviera, we call that ” Goin’ muddin’ ” and I’d love to have one of those old trucks to do it in !
