Quote Of The Day — September 22, 2013

.
“,,, Man’s only moral commandment is: Thou Shalt Think. But a ‘moral commandment’ is a contradiction in terms. The moral, is the chosen, not the forced; The understood, not the obeyed. The moral is the rational, and reason accepts no commandments.”

Ayn Rand, “This is John Galt”, Atlas Shrugged

  1. Hardnox says:

Morality is in short supply these days. The Left has seen to that.

  2. And the Right has prostituted themselves to a false ideology and morality.
Three men come to mind, whom we sorely need
George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson.

  3. Kathy says:

Great statement – if you have morals, you don’t need commandments. A lost concept on this administration.

  4. Clyde says:

    Spot-on. Good one, GF.

  5. Mrs AL says:

Grouchy, I have to admit this one confuses me a bit. Could I have a third grade version please?

    • Morals are an innate trait of character, instilled from infancy. They cannot be commanded from the outside, but are inbred, and a basic premise by which one lives one’s life. Reason is a recognition of the rights of every individual to their own beliefs and Life Values. But at the same token, there is the recognition of restraint and respect of individual integrity. What is demanded of others is first demanded of Self. Without Self Respect, Self-Restraint and Self-Discipline, there can be no Integrity, and the whole system fails.

      • Mrs AL says:

Thanx. Will thunk on this. Not quite sure but something is a little off for yours truly. That said, I agree completely with the base idea.
