Benghazi Whistle Blower Gets The Shaft

From Kevin Jackson at the Black Sphere:

While Susan Rice has made out like a bandit, the man who knows what should have been done on Benghazi has gotten shafted. If only he were an incompetent black woman!

Gregory Hicks, State Department foreign service officer and former deputy chief of mission/charge d’affairs in Libya said that the military could have done more, he expected them to do more, as he told George Stephanopoulos:

“I just thought that they would come,” he said. Hicks also told Stephanopoulos it may have been possible to save two of the men killed.

Shortly after his comments on the Benghazi situation, he was unceremoniously removed from theater, and he knows why. Retribution. Had the situation been president George W. Bush removing a competent black man from a State Department post, Bush would have deservedly caught hell. But in a time when lawlessness and racism rule the land, Hicks is left holding the bag.

The State Department had this to say in an email on the situation:

The State Department has not punished Mr. Hicks in any way. We appreciate his exemplary service on the evening of September 11 and his long career as a member of the Foreign Service. Although the State Department ordinarily does not discuss the details of personnel matters publicly, because he has alleged mistreatment, we will state generally that the circumstances that led to his departure from Libya was entirely unrelated to any statements he may have made relating to the attack in Benghazi. When Mr. Hicks voluntarily curtailed his assignment, he was in the position of finding another assignment in between standard assignment cycles. The Department made significant efforts to find him a new position at his level, including identifying an overseas position which he declined and succeeded in finding him a short-tour assignment in the Office of the Special Representative for Global Intergovernmental Affairs, pending the next assignment cycle. We continue to value his service and are working with him through the normal personnel process and assignment timetable to identify his next permanent assignment. The State Department is deeply committed to meeting its obligation to protect employees and the State Department does not tolerate or sanction retaliation against whistleblowers on ANY ISSUE, including Benghazi.

Hey there, boys and girls. Can you say “BULLSHIT”? I knew you could!

  2. Clyde says:

Typical of this administration. Screw over the COMPETENT, of which there are SCANT few of, and REWARD the WORST of the dregs. So much for Ivy-League “smarts”. Good post, albeit maddening.

    • Hardnox says:

Thanks Clyde. The entrenched will always save their hides. Look at the men that came forward over “Fast & Furious”. Ditto with the IRS scandal.

  3. Buck says:

Anyone casting a shadow or otherwise standing in the way of Hillary’s ascent to the Oval Office will be dealt with severely and then lied about extremely.

HN, good one! Anybody who whistle blows on this administration should know they will get the shaft and those who stick by the King’s word get promoted. It’s a travesty and downright disgusting especially when the King says all whistle blowers are protected. Just one more lie from him as usual. Nothing he says is true.

    • Hardnox says:

Thanks Pepp. So much for that promised transparency. The one thing we can see clearly is that not a single truth comes out of this administration.

  5. garnet92 says:

Through the years, our society has become more and more accepting of lies. Look at commercials and advertisements. We’ve come to accept that politicians lie to get elected, should we be surprised when they continue while in office? We’ve got the winner of the Nobel Prize for Lying as a president and his habitual lies encourage others to do it. We will probably never get to the bottom of the Benghazi, NSA, FBI investigations because the participants can knowingly lie and get away with it. If we can’t somehow change this trend towards the acceptance of lying, how can we base life decisions on information that may not be factual, it’ll be a crapshoot.

    • Hardnox says:

Excellent comment. I fault the media for most of this. Hence the push for special protections for “official” journalists. They don’t want blogs to tell the truth. The forever lies would be exposed if we actually had a media.

  6. upaces88 says:

Hardnox, it doesn’t matter if anyone was for or against Bush, okay?
The point is when younger Bush was running for President, there was a news reporter on WFAA-TV Fort Worth/Dallas, that gave “all” of his background.
    1) Crashed a plane while drunk;
    2) Seldom showed up for formation.

The point is? The man who told the truth was immediately fired; and was never able to find a job in the Media again. IF you are curious, order the movie, “In The Electric Mist”. It is a Tommy Lee Jones Movie and IT IS A KEEPER. That reporter has a bit part as a cop.

I don’t know where he is now or what he is doing.

    • Hardnox says:

Thanks for your comment but you need to direct it to Kevin Jackson.

The point of this post was to highlight the blatant hypocrisy of this administration when it comes to whistleblowers while at the same time professing to be the champions of transparency.
