Well, It Is A Start.

Coming from an administration official, of whom I thought THEY all LOVED this bunch, I must say I’m pleasantly surprised.

Although, MUCH more, or in this case, MUCH LESS, needs to be the rule. From The Daily Caller.com

Why stop with just ONE worthless UNITU, or whatever? Defund the WHOLE damned THING. And, if THAT doesn’t work, then try THESE………
THESE will get the job DONE!!  Guarandamnteed.

A U.S. official called for the defunding of a U.N. agency on Thursday if the  agency continues to attempt to assert international regulatory authority over  the Internet.

FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai proposed that the U.S. withdraw its financial support for  the International Telecommunication Union, (ITU) a U.N. agency, The Washington Post reports.

The ITU came to prominence when nations met in Dubai in December 2012 to  renegotiate an international telecommunications treaty  credited with paving the way for the Internet.

While no consensus was achieved among the nations at the December 2012 ITU conference, the U.S.  and its allies walked out of the meeting after support for a new international  regulatory regime over the Internet found massive support among many conference  attendants.

<img alt=”Mideast Emirates Internet Conference.JPEG” src=”http://dailycaller.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/5df81e6a88f440b68275fe43b3596575-e1379018817133.jpg” width=”630″ height=”421″ />

Nations are scheduled to meet in South  Korea in November to further discuss the future of the ITU.

The U.S. is the largest annual contributor to the budget of the  agency, contributing $11 million annually, accounting for 7.7 percent of the  ITU’s annual budget. Japan is agency’s the second largest financial  contributor.

“If the organization decides to become an international regulatory authority  for the Internet we will have to ask ourselves whether the United States should  remain one of its top two funders,” said Pai, speaking at a Washington  conference on Thursday.

The revelations about the West’s counter-terrorism Internet surveillance  apparatus, however, have damaged U.S. credibility with regard to Internet freedom, and the backlash against U.S.  Internet companies has caused  the industry to worry about loss of trust from users across the world.

So here we see the slimy tentacles of the MOST CORRUPT body on the planet, funded primarily by US, wanting to exercise control over the Internet.

Any regular reader knows my loathing, and contempt for this absolutely worthless bunch. Not only is it PAST time to DEFUND anything to do with this sorry-assed bunch, but way past time to boot the criminal enterprise from our shores.

The Internet, warts and all, is FINE. The LAST thing the Internet needs is this bunch of professional handwringers, and their third-world dictators, wanting CONTROL over it. Along with making sure THEIR palms are well-greased for the “privilege” of using the Internet. Can YOU say, “United Nations Internet Usage Tax” on YOUR ISP bill? EFF THAT.

WAY past time, also, for the rest of the world to tell the U-frigging-N to piss up a rope, and chew the wet end.

Well, it’s like this, you see. The U.N. is another liberal brainstorm that won’t work and they won’t admit it won’t work but keep pouring our dollars into it trying to make it work. Another example of Einstein’s definition of insanity.

  2. Terry says:

I hit the “Like” button. Where is the “I Like This Idea Very, Very, Much” button ?

  3. Mrs AL says:

Ok, call me cynical … what’s the catch? Yes, if it’s sincere I agree with your commentary, Clyde. But at this point in time I am distrustful of any idea coming from this administration. Keep the ‘dozers at the ready!

    • Clyde says:

OK, Mrs. Cynical Al. haha . This isn’t, however, an administration idea. It’s EVEN WORSE. Mrs. Al, ANYTHING coming from the U-frigging-N needs to be viewed with distrust. They damn sure haven’t given me a reason to trust them since I started following the political stuff.

  4. Hardnox says:

This is good news. At least it is a start. The UN personifies government over-reach gilded with good intentions. The UN was formed to provide a forum to prevent wars not as a world wide governing body that they fancy themselves as now. Preventing wars hasn’t worked out well either. The Birchers were right.

    Good post.

  5. Kathy says:

They may have called for defunding this agency, but I’m not holding my breath until they actually do it. It’s simply not in these people’s nature to cut back on spending.

  6. When international control is exercised over a domestic entity, rest assured we have achieved the goals of the New World Order, and the chains and restrictions of One World Government.
Regardless of the intent in 1945, the U.N. has far over-reached any reasonable influence in international, sovereign Nation affairs. It is indeed, a bloated obese monstrosity that needs euthanasia.

    • Clyde says:

Good comment, GF. One thing, where there is bloat, there is usually stench. THAT place is worse than skunks on steroids !! Thanks for dropping in.

  7. Buck says:

Right, Grouch. the UN is another liberal brainchild and whatever their intentions upon its founding it is actually the embryo for a world ruler and should be dismantled as fast as we get a true conservative leader…

    • Clyde says:

“and should be dismantled as fast as we get a true conservative leader”… Now THAT is something we SORELY need. I’ve about given up on the PSP nominating ANY conservative. It’s a winner if they do.

  8. CW says:

Gee, who would have ever thought that the creation of a global governing body would lead to this? It’s shocking!

  9. Garnet92 says:

I like Grouchy’s comment and it’s right on the money. I can’t think of a single thing that the US would lose by withdrawing, but much to gain. Let them muddle around on their own and stop wars and feed the hungry, etc., etc., etc.

After all, we could always petition to re-join once they’ve shown that they’ve got their act together … sarc/off
