Quote Of The Day — September 6, 2013

.
Whenever he reads articles in newspapers or magazines written by politicians using global warming or the destruction of the environment for their electoral campaigns, he thinks: ‘How can we be so arrogant? The planet is, was and always will be stronger than us. We can’t destroy it; if we overstep the mark, the planet will simply erase us from its surface and carry on existing.  Why don’t they start talking about not letting the planet destroy us?’

Because “Saving the planet” gives a sense of power, action and nobility. Whereas “not letting the planet destroy us” might lead us to feelings of despair and impotence, and to a realization of just how very limited our capabilities are.”

That puts things in a better perspective, I’d say.

  2. Clyde says:

Good find, GF. Going to fire this off to the Fraudacle. Perfect.

  3. Buck says:

Yeah, Grouch. Got me to thinking. Of all the millenia our species spent just trying to survive the elements of Mother Earth. Now, when we have finally reached a plateau where we are on an even footing and now survive in relative comfort, some asshole wants to change the rules…

  4. Or even a position of “Peaceful Coexistence”, Buck. The Goron has no idea what the ‘ell he’s barking at. I guess he likes to hear himself bray at the moon???

  5. Mrs. AL says:

Arrogance appears to be the new norm in many parts of the world. Coelho is spot-on again, Grouchy.

  6. Mrs AL says:

    Again, I say …

Arrogance appears to be the new norm in many parts of the world. Coelho is spot-on again, Grouchy.
